I've got a WSM, and just wasn't able to get into the garage and measure for myself today. the WSM doesn't have that dim. Basically, I've got rear dims from my alignment, and "the place to go to" didn't want to wank around with doing and undoing shims, so they basically set the toe, and sent me on my way. The dims read in such a way that if pull a toe shim from one side and put it on the other, it should even things out....NOW, (in my brain) I need to make a quick CAD model of it in order to do so. UNLESS, of course, one of you knows that a 2mm shim is = to .xx degrees of toe. I'm literally looking to move .2 degrees out on the drivers side, and .2 in on the passenger. sjd
Those shims come in different widths - if you look about 1/2 way down page on link below they sell them there: https://www.superformance.co.uk/348/suspension.html When I took my rear arm off the 2 sets of shims were absolutely identical in the width they created as you can in the pic where they are on top of the chair. You already have the info from John and Jeff, it is 345 mm. Using the drawing shown in the manual (as also posted by Jeff) showing the 288.5 mm dimension and extrapolating it (scaling) to the dimension you need, I got 347 mm. As my ruler is not 100% accurate, I would take 345 mm as correct.
ricambi has them too. The model tells me that 1mm shim is good for about .17 degrees of toe. It's also shown me that I need to move 1mm of shim from the left to the right. sjd
My calculation shows 0.166 Deg. per 1 mm shim. If 1 mm is added (or removed) at one point of the lower arm, the other point is the centre of rotation around a horizontal circle having 345 mm radius, thus: Circumference of the circle: 2*345*3.1415926535 = 2,167.70 mm Angle change per mm of shim: 360 / 2,167.70 = 0.166 Deg.
That's how I did it, just more graphically. My measured toe is .4 degrees on the left and .07 on the right. 1mm shim should move things as such: .4 - .166 = .234 .07 + .166 = .236 ...this is also not at loaded spec. sjd
