Hi. I am looking into making an EFI kit for the 308 2V motor, but I don't want to take mine apart yet. Does anyone have an extra 2V intake runner that I can buy cheaply?

    Thanks in advance,

    Aaron

Hi Aaron, I am in the middle of designing and having made some 2V Weber IDF manifolds. You could then use IDF throttle bodies. They should be ready in the next couple of months and I am also working on attractive air filters and a simple linkage system.

Image Unavailable, Please Login That’s a cool idea and I am doing something similar with my 77 Lotus Esprit S1. But my Mondial 8 is already turbocharged so I am looking for stock runners.

Any IDF throttle body (like this one) will fit onto my manifolds and if you want injector bosses on the manifolds nearer the head those are easy to add to the pattern for a few of the manifolds. If you still want my old CIF manifolds, I’ll PM you in the new year once I’m finished with them.

The EFI setup I've been doing for the last decade is a PITA on the 2v due to the angles of the injectors. I hand bend the lines. Time consuming and the brazer hates the jigging.
The problem is the port angle due to the water jacket in the head. New manifolds have to include that angle or fuel just hits the port wall and puddles. I don't care for the ITB's because of that. The F40 uses a fuel rail and has angled injectors, I'll snap a pic.

WOW! How the heck do you install that? I guess it relies heavily on a shallow "cup" on the rail and lots of o-ring flex.

I have two ideas I am thinking of. The first is to use 280ZX injectors that have a hose crimped to them. That would give me some flex to deal with the angle.

The second is to use something like an Injector Dynamics top hat adapter that clips to the injector, but instead of an o-ring connection on top I would have them made with a -3 or -4AN fitting. The hat is held on by a metal clip.

As far as keeping them in place in the manifold I think I'll just drill and tap a set screw that catches a notch on the side of the injector.

BTW I have seen your hand bent ones and they are beautiful, honestly the most elegant solution I've seen so far.

Thanks, yeah total PITA, even the F40 ones. O ring flex and shallow cup but still a fight.

I've done the custom -3an top fitting and lines, not for stock injectors flow rates though and found pulsations to be a problem. So hard lines it was. One design used a distribution block with 8 ports that ran to the injectors, flex teflon lines. Finding space for all that was a pita as well.

Holding the injectors is the next problem. I do custom threaded inserts and custom injectors, threaded injectors are nothing new in drag race boosted manifold world.

I've got a new design that uses the new molded injectors. But those dang lines...ugggh. the bigger problem is cost, at certain point the cost exceeds what many will spend understandable given values. Flip side, once vehicle value gets high enough then stock CIS is retained for originality...

I mfg'd a couple 2v manifolds from carbon 66 yrs ago just for EFI though it also required a custom manifold. Cost was always the problem.

Ditching CIS will net a solid 30/30 hp/tq gain.. loads of dyno time has born that out. But that's maximum with a fresh rebuild and a CR of 10:1. Stock cams etc... The engines just weren't ideally setup for fuel injection... They scream with carbs though. QV is a leap forward and responds better.

Another problem that I ran into are the 2 nuts next to the TB holding down the manifold. I have no access to them and in order to remove them, the front split rails must be removed. Hoping that I will not be removing the manifold often :(

That looks great Tommy. Fuel rails are always a paint in the butt. Even on my 308 that is using 328 runners.

I found a complete set of runners, and a plenum and throttle body. I have those parts on the way to me now.

You might want to entertain the Siemens Deka injector from the BMW N62 engine. It's got a long nozzle that's almost the same length as the OEM injector., avoiding fuel runoff as Scott mentioned.

The xT variant, those are great. The trick is adapting them to the stock manifold.
