I own both a Pista and 765LT and the LT is without question the quicker car - and not by a small margin based on my subjective experience. I suspect the real world weight difference is larger than what the manufacturer's published numbers suggest. My guess is ~200 pounds with fluids. Power wise, the LT simply has more and arrives more violently.
This is Aus don't forget - not USA where Pista's can be bought for more or less a song in comparison. At our prices they should be made of gold not just painted in it. Used Pista's here are still around or above msrp depending upon spec - @750K+ and are bringing that. So a spider in right color and spec could well achieve 1m or over. So 999 is plausible. I can recall seeing one going for 1.2 early in the piece. With no other choice other than pay the price or not buy one, believe it or not these prices do get paid.
GT2, to give you an example here's what's currently available today. https://www.carsales.com.au/cars/ferrari/488-pista/ So there are 4 showing. The new Pista advert is just a BS ad as there are no new ones avail and dealers put these types of ads up to attract enquiry, so if/when they actually get one for sale they can contact the interested parties.
PS , FYI i know it was 999,999 exactly because my wife authorized the check and the next day the car was off car sales BTW it was a great spec
The one with the blue , white , red confused me but French flag ? But that dealer , hum , no comment if you know what i mean. And in VIC add another 70 k stamp duty
No is a Ferrari only guy - heavy on the Koolaid, but without actually owning anything. He hates Porsches and Mclaren's with a vengenace....sees them as a threat to his fragile position.
I didn't realize location. Yeah... Makes sense now. Still rough. The "perks" to living in a relatively isolated (huge) piece of land surrounded by water.
I love the asterisked comment. Govt taxes excluded... I can only imagine what they are asking for the one they marked as Inquire for price... And I assume that the taxes won't be gentle...
You can just see it as blue, read and white colors in no particular order. I personally like the color combination.
No but Ferraris have been pretty reliable ever since the 458. So it’s more about the frustration of having issues all the time, having to take the car to the dealer and downtime.
For reference, I've had 2 Macs and they were pretty solid. If they weren't I wouldn't have ordered the 765. All of the Ferraris I've had have also been mechanically sound. Each have had very minor things needing to be addressed but nothing serious.
The image i cannot erase is when I was getting my 488GTB film being applied there was a 720 and a couple of Porsches waiting to be done. My car was pushed forward before the already started 720. Reason was the car went dead. Dealer changed the battery and still dead. Had to toed bach to the dealer . 4 days latter it came back and somehow went dead again. Detailer pointed out it happened on another car also. Amazing thing i saw was indiscriminate use of different screws, i.e left side had different screws to the right side. A few weeks latter going back to thank for a great job on my car and the 720 was still there. BTW panel fit on this car was absolutely atrocious. I wouldn't necessary judge all 720's being this way but i sure would hate to be the owner of this car.
No, (in my opinion) I am referring to the McLaren interiors that seemed to have been taken from a Datsun 210 from the early 80's. They really have to get a better interior designer to match the interiors of their peers. Sticky buttons and all, Ferrari 458 interiors, although outdated, are still overall better and more esthetically pleasing than current model McLaren interiors.
Good point. And yes, all cars may have their issues, some are individual cars are not the entire line. With that said, I think the point buddyg is trying to make is that overall, we have all heard more issues with McLaren's reliability and durability than any other car within this category. Granted this seems to have changed with the 720s. Still, many people remember and therefore have shun away from McLaren. They are undoubtedly, a force to be reckoned with, particularly in performance. If I were Ferrari, I would forget about my battle with Lamborghini and shoot to beat McLaren. Keep their styling and boost their R&D in the performance department. You beat McLaren, you will likely beat Lamborghini.
I get his point but my point is that there is no slam dunk. It'***** or miss with all these cars. Do whatever you feel comfortable with but make sure you are informed by actual owners vs. Many of the clowns that post what they've read or heard somewhere.
In what way? I know this is subjective to some extent but McLaren is kicking Ferraris ass when comes to ergonomics and layout of controls. The basic interiors are relatively bland but that is easily remedied with MSO. I bet the interior and ergonomics of my 765LT blows away anything Ferrari has ever released at any price point. Lets not even get started on paint finishes. This is not to beat up on Ferrari but they need to step their game up big time.
I think it is fair to say I love Ferrari. I have a few still. Like 33. But the 765 is a darn good car. I tracked it again today and it performed admirably with far more appeal than I ever felt from my 720. I did not care for the 720, really didn’t care for the 650, but still have two 675, the P1, and a faster car than my Italian GT3 Daytona winner, the Senna GTR. If you have driven the Senna GTR, P1, or 765, class would be over and you would have your diploma.
I get your point. But unfortunately, none of us can interview everyone to find out what is the consensus. How do we know about the infamous Ferrari sticky buttons? Because a lot of people complained about them and it is public. McLaren had a reputation of not being very durable/reliable compared to their competitors. You don't have to own a car to learn about these things. It was the same with Land Rover. It is the same with many others as well. I am not attacking McLaren. I think they are great at what they do and so far, it seems they have become the one to beat.
