    Gents,

Did anyone receive a mail like this? I received it yesterday in my Yahoo mail supposedly from EAG but I’m not sure from who. Just wanted to see if anyone else received this??? It seemed a bit off.

    Cheers, Mat

    Initial email:

Good afternoon, We are currently running an end of year Christmas special for our kits and conversions, $13,000 for a Ferrari conversion kit and $21,000 for us to do the full conversion. The time to act is now since this special is only going on for a week. If you have any questions or concerns please do not hesitate to ask. Thank you.

    My response:

I would like to hear more about having a 6 speed conversion done on my F430 for $21k.
Can you please provide more detail?
    Cheers, Mat

    +++++

    Their response:

Thank you for reaching back out to us! Yes sir of course I would be glad to give more details about converting your F430. It takes about 4 to 6 weeks to get parts and another 4 to 6 weeks to complete the car once we we have all the parts. If you move forward with the special we are offering we would require half up front to cover the cost of parts and we would need that by tomorrow as we are placing a massive parts order so that we can have everything we need to start the new year off right. The rest of the monies won't be needed until after the car is complete and ready to ship, or for pick up. If you have anymore questions, please do not hesitate to ask and we look forward to hearing from you soon! Thank you. V/R EAG

I might be on the naughty list since I did not get said email.

I did see the earlier offer which I think is expired now:
I cut the end off since the offer is expired anyways. But some of the numbers appear to align.

Just out of curiosity, does anyone know if EAG has anyone formally trained there to work on Ferraris?

If a conversion can be done for $20-30k why would someone pay $100k+ more for a factory version? Man Ferrari collectors are a strange bunch. :)

Because one is factory authentic and matches its paperwork, the other being a retrofit will never hold the same value no matter how identical they may be.

At the end of the day, a retrofit/conversion would be how I would roll.

Having considered the question of a 6 speed conversion and had multiple conversations with EAG, I have concluded the following: in the Porsche community, there seems to be general understanding that certain authentic changes to a car are not only acceptable, but in some cases desirable. Example: Singer. This has yet to happen in the Ferrari community, at least as far as I can see.

I've now owned the following F cars in order: F430, 458, Speciale, 488, Pista. They have all been incredible cars. They've all been paddle cars. I'll probably keep my Pista forever. But, I long for the involvement of the manual mated with that magnificent Ferrari V8. Thus, I have concluded that I value the experience of driving a Ferrari more than the experience of owning a Ferrari. Will it hurt the value? Who the heck cares, as long as I feel like Fangio while driving? I'm pretty sure that laying on my death bed, I won't be saying, "dang, I shouldn't have converted that Ferrari to a 6 speed."

My motto: "Ferrari, reimagined by...me" :)

The question is rightly asked in the comments section of that BAT listing, which is whether or not the crazy prices of these manual 430's is/will start to drag up the prices of F1 cars. Thoughts?
