    Hey

I have a 2014 FF that doesn’t have the Clarion CarPlay upgraded headunit.

My question is this - I have the rear screens for the kids and the original system is Alpine. If I buy the car play upgrade system, will that work with the rear screens and the instrument screens etc. I ask as of course they are from different manufacturers.

I’d like CarPlay and i use waze all the time but i don’t want to lose functionality.

    Thanks

There seem to be companies in the UK that say they have been successful in upgrading the systems, I have no experience with either but after digging found them:

Interesting, do you know is it can retain the steering wheel controls and interface with the right side display next to the rev counter?

    And hello PTG1... :)

Do you know if the factory one - the re-branded Clarion unit - works with the various screens and rear screens? It's stupidly expensive as of course, it comes in a Ferrari box and has a prancing horse start up screen but if it does work fully then I will consider it. Cheers

I looked into this and the only way to retain the steering controls is to use a Ferrari/clarion upgrade Can box don’t believe any one that tells you that the other brands like pioneer, alpine or Kenwood with there self learning steering control function will work is not true period. Even with the factory Can box you will loose information on right screen.
I ended up using the factory Can box and top of the line clarion unit not the Ferrari branded one. Kids can watch dvds in the back and I can listen to music at the same time duel zones. All working awesome

    I used the VX807AU
Only thing I can’t do is get the Ferrari logo on start up.

Resurrecting this thread. I'm in the process of buying a 2014 FF which also has the rear the screen like the OP. Which I would also like to remain functional.

I've done a fair bit of reading and the likelyhood is I'll just leave it all alone if it works.

I would like Android Auto though so thinking laterally and knowing that the rear screens are Alpine, I've been in touch with Apline UK and asked them if they offer a Double din head unit that would provide TV and DVD outputs to the rear screens and retain full functionality as if it were factory.

The short answer was "Er we don't know" however rather than leave it there, they are contacting the European Alpine supplier responsible for supplying Ferrari, in an effort to obtain specifications of what has been supplied as OEM. They'll get back to me as when they have some info.

I'll update this if I find any sort of solution that involces an Alpine head unit.
