That is the name they started off with in 1987 F40 Le Mans but they soon after dropped that idea...

If Le Mans is used for the 812VS as an announce of a Le Mans return... then yes!!

I guessed (and posted) the name of the Roma before it was announced, so maybe 2 for 2...?

I said in 2010 that Ferrari should do turbochargers for the Italia and call it the 488. It only took them six years! I still think the name will have a stronger Italian connection perhaps than your suggestion. THE general Ferrari name trend has been simple historic names.

I think in honor of all the naysayers, it should be named the 812 NP.

    NP for Not Pinafarina. ;)

Maybe they’re right. Maybe they’re wrong. Regardless I’m so excited that I could lie down and do nothing :| It’s gross to read stuff like this.

Seems to imply the SUV will get the naturally aspirated V12 from the 812.

Purosangue? It would make sense to give the "pure blood" a naturally aspirated V12.

Bringing the conversation back to this thread - this would also mean the naturally aspirated V12 doesn't end with the 812 VS variant - which probably makes 812VS less special. Also means the Lusso won't be the last V12 4 seater.

IMHO the 812VS will be the last ( non Icona ) N/A and non-assisted v12..... the purosangue is another matter altogether and discussed in other threads .

Just a hunch , but my initial guesstimate was that in feb we would see images of the VS and the VS Aperta both at the same time ... however , although my crystal ball is a little smeared in festive merlot and lagavulin, I’m thinking Jan now ....COVID related production slow down is likely but it’s no problem for Ferrari to market the VS/Aperta next month and then provide the 1st wave of customer cars for VVIPs n the summer /autumn. This would keep the share price for RACE high and indulge the self-perpetuating frenzy from Ferrari fanatics ( such as myself admittedly - although I’m in no rush , i will undoubtedly buckle and fold as soon as any pics are seen - I’m not strong enough once visually allured!)....

Your Peaty pallet definitely giving you some great inspirations to share - fingers crossed for January. To your point that V12 line is a little lonely these days, could use some added models :p

If the Purosangue is unassisted NA V12 then that makes five (5) new releases of unassisted NA V12 AFTER the 812SF which was touted as the last one.

The factory has never officially said anything about 812 being the last one. I remember when every motor journalist out there called F12 the last one and then F12TDF the last of the last.

    :)

To be honest as long as they don't add turbos to the V12, I would be happy with a NA V12 coupled with hybrid. They can make the V12 smaller, higher revving and keep the overall weight of the system roughly the same. I know this will take time to happen but if this is the path that Ferrari ends up taking then in my mind it is a win-win situation. Of course not everyone will agree with me and I respect that.

Makes a lot of sense to go this route but this assumes the V12 GT wont be platform sharing with the elephant SUV? Weight saved on a small engine will be totally offset by batteries though, not to mention the packaging challenges of batteries on a front engine car.

VS I think will be incremental increases but I cannot see a huge jump in power, how they save significant weight on an already fairly light 812 is going to be interesting beyond the usual stripped out interior.

Seems ridiculous wanting more performance than the already hugely fast 812...
