Forgive me Have You Consolidated Your Car Collection to Attain a Grail - (F40!)? https://r.tapatalk.com/shareLink/topic?share_fid=9080&share_tid=613126&url=https://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/index.php?threads/Have-You-Consolidated-Your-Car-Collection-to-Attain-a-Grail---%28F40%21%29%3F.613126/&share_type=t&link_source=app Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
For a crazy thought consider a 599GTO. Less refined than the 812, sounds great, still has decent V12 power and a value proposition over the SF90. Would be a good stablemate to Pista and maybe sporty enough for you.
We all know what you quietly bought Blampee ‘s car for a stablemate. So congrats. Image Unavailable, Please Login
There is nothing wrong with the ZR1 as I am keeping my 2019 three pedal version forever! Image Unavailable, Please Login
Very tough call....opposite ends of the spectrum. Light V8 turbo historical icon vs modern NA V12 beast. They each carry their own prowess in different areas. It definitely takes a bit more planning to choose a proper canyon road to appreciate the F40. TDF I feel can be driven most anywhere quite easily. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
So you don’t find that F40 is necessarily more eventful/fun? Are they your top 2 so far that you’ve ever owned?
Also tires are a big factor on the F40. If they are new the car is far more enjoyable than old on hard tires. May the Horse be with you
Yes, that was the implication that planning the drive for the F40 is an event and the drive itself is magnificent.. It performs best when warmed up and at top end, when turbo boost is at max. Spooling up of the turbo to get it to warp speed takes time. It’s a car that reminds of patience. Everything is racy, raw and visceral. Previous car with as much character, heritage and never to be made with such unique attributes is the CGT. It’s more stout and brute with its power and howls with fierceness with its NA V10. Both cars are very special. As a matter of fact, to get the thread back on track...if one is considering a TDF as a stable mate, I’d highly recommend a CGT as a fierce competitor. So the best stablemate for the Pista is a CGT! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
That is very interesting. I never thought the 2 cars were on the same par as they go about their business in a very different way. If you only had the choice of a CGT or TDF which will it be? May the Horse be with you
I could not possibly agree more with Edward. You want a real raw vehicle. CGT is the one. Still turns heads. Still beautiful. Still powerful and it would definitely look good with anything next to it. It would actually make whatever is next to it a little less. Only option up would be a 918.
That is an interesting question that I couldn't answer. They are for sure different vehicles. So I would guess, it mainly lies on the main purpose for use. I would love to see what Edward says.
Depends on if it’s Saturday or Sunday...today it’s TDF. After selling the CGT, I thought about buying another, however, that chapter had already been read. So for me, it was time to move on, hence, TDF. Both are very different, and it would depend on what was in my stable. If I were wanting the most raw, analogue car, CGT would be it. It is not the easiest to drive and the LeMans engine and clutch demands attention. But the reward is phenomenal. If I wanted a more modern machine that has a varied personality from raw to luxury with phenomenal power, TDF is the answer. With either, there is no wrong answer. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
I haven't had the honor, privilege or pleasure to own or drive either car. The younger me would select the CGT. I still love the car, think it is amazing and holds its own within today's ranks. However, as Edward well stated, the clutch and the focus and constant attention to details it demands, probably would be my 99.9% choice as I can only relate it to being more driver engaged and demanding than my GT2; and that alone is quite a feat. So for that reason, and my current age, I would probably also select the TDF.
Apologies if this was mentioned, but is the "stable mate" supposed to compliment, as in yin-yang, or compliment, as in equivalent just different? Sticking in Ferrari world, my favourite place of late: - 812 is just a baller daily - TDF the equivalent just the v12
