Anyone know of a source for coffin-spoke wheels (the style originally used on the Lancia Stratos) in sizes/offsets that fit the 308? I'd like to find 16" wheels with the same dimensions as the stock 308 starfish wheels, preferably in a lightweight material, such as a magnesium alloy. Below is a picture of the style I'm talking about:

Lister bell; Compomotive (used by Hawk) and Image used to be 3 of the bigger names. There was an issue with wider rears fitting without flares/rolled arches, and people trying same width fronts on rears that looked odd. But I believe MFRs started offering variable / custom width sizes. L-B made 16” rims to increase tyre options. I thought Image made a mag replica - not sure on spec - but obviously improved unsprung weight. I think it was Image that made component wheels so you could order spares rather than a whole wheel after kerpbing / track damage etc. A few threads here about 18 months ago.

This is a great picture that's been around for quite a while. The wheels look like 16s to me, can anyone confirm?

These are 16” Lister Bell wheels on an unflared GTB.
I have a pic somewhere that LB sent me of this very car being fitted with their wheels.
Email LB and they are good at responding.

Hannibal, what width rears are these? As I understood it, it’s not that the LBs don’t fit, it’s rather that the standard set widths didn’t, so you just get a different size?

The Compomotive wheels are only available from Gerry at Hawk Cars as I believe he owns the tooling for them.

As someone posted on a different thread, Image Wheels do a coffin spoke wheel in 3 piece so you can build what widths and offsets you want.

AFAIK the Hawk/LB wheels are 15"

Patrick, I thought the LBs made a 16” (and other sizes) to have greater tyre options? The comp are 15”s and Image do the component part piece and also a mag (rich) version?

    That’s the lowest 308 I’ve ever seen.

How did they get it that low?

    Yes, it does say:

"Due to the limited 15" diameter tyre options we have developed a range of 16" and 17" wheels that can be fitted to all Stratos' cars, real or replica. The wheels we offer replicate the original Campagnola designs but offer greater flexibility when it comes to rim widths and tyre options. The wheels are a two piece construction and are available in any 5 stud pcd, centre bore and colour of your choice."

on their website, so it does seem they do.

    The pricelist has:
    16 & 17” 2piece coffin spoke replica wheel set 8” F & 11”R
Tyre set 225/45/16 front 275/40/17 rear road tyres

Great info, guys. I saw various places that do a 15" version, but I didn't realize Lister does a 16". Will check with them.

The pic I posted is a car fitted with 16” LB wheels. I do not know the offsets or widths. But LB knows and can hook you up.

I don't think it is advisable to lower your car this much. Watch it bottom out frequently in this video:

I’d love a set on my gt4 as I think they would really suit the more angular Bertone styling, but I would fit four of the narrower fronts because I wouldn’t want to modify the bodywork.

You would definitely need to flare the fenders with that combination. I really love the look as well.
