Hopefully no rules broken...I posted in the general section as well, but thought it might be a little more specifically answered here. Looking to buy a 488GTB, The actual beginning price isn’t a huge concern. $234k-$258k. Looking at two cars. -Both at a Ferrari dealer, both similarly optioned -both are Ferrari CPO certified , both red -difference......one is a 2016, 359 miles. One is a 2019, 2100 miles So...is there an advantage to buying one versus the other? Will there be the same depreciation, relative $ wise, when it’s sold/traded for the next F-car. Will probably be kept for 2yrs, putting on maybe 2-4K miles before moving on to the next. Feel free to give your choice if you were buying...and... Thank you in advance for any advice/help.
for me, production year is totally irrelevant as there are no differences concerning tech or build quality. Also the diffference in mileage is irrelevant, thats 3 months of driving for me ;-)
I’d buy the 2019 with 2100 miles. The 16 car has been sitting around and who knows what gremlins are there?
Just between those factors its a no brainer for the 2019. The 488 is not a museum piece, so the delivery miles makes no sense. Model year really does affect depreciation and I think 2019 is the last year for 488 GTB. The miles means the cars been driven and thats a good thing. Sent from my iPad using FerrariChat
2019 is the way to go no matter the mileage. 1/4 miles tests have shown Ferrari did something with the 2019 model to pump it up a little too. Plus the ones you’re looking at...300 miles on a 6 year old car is a issue..way to few. Cars need to be driven
FWIW You can add 2 year warranty extension on the 2019 You can only get New Power warranty on the 2016 if that matters to you... Both will put a smile on your face! A
Totally agree, plus have a few more years of maintenance and one of warranty in you decide to keep it a little longer.
Also with new Ferrari Policy the 7 years free service from Feb 2019 if the computer says no oil change , well it wont happen. See if that is an issue with the 2019. Also with the 2016 you cant get full warrantee 2 year extension only power and there is a big difference. Why get the older car unless its way cheaper than the 2019. LOOK UNDER THE CARS ALWAYS. Look for scraps.
My opinion is even a crystal ball cannot accurately predict the future value of any car.Factors such as how many 2017,18 or 19 488s' hit the market in 2 years how much they've depreciated. Most of the loss of resale usually occurs during the first year so the 2019 seems like a good value even considering the miles. Hopefully the previous ownership is available to you and that and a visual touch and see of both cars, and choose the one you just prefer. I believe there's just not a black and white answer.
Ha make a point at getting on my hands and knees looking under. Funniest thing is i see scratches all the time and even on cars that have the lift. Out of sight out of mind yes but explain that the valuer.
Not sure how to avoid road rash on the plastic belly pan on a driven car. The diffuser fins also take the occasional hit coming off a crest etc. Wear items. Sent from my SM-G930F using FerrariChat.com mobile app
Hi. Done with all the homework and due diligence, and I’m going with the ‘19 Here’s the options ... Image Unavailable, Please Login
Sensible choice, the 2016 should be way cheaper than the 2019 to be a good option - having virtually no mileage is not an advantage (when it's so low it could actually be a cause of problems).
