488 488 Sound

So I have driven a 488 with a Capristo exhaust and a cat bypass and it still sounded terrible, is there any solution for this Turbo Bshit ?

 

Yes. Don’t go into a turbo car expecting it to sound naturally aspirated. Even the stock 488 with sports exhaust sounds good once you get past the fact that it will never sound as good as an NA car. Simple as that. That’s why I have an Aventador S and GT3RS alongside my F8 and 720S.

All serve a purpose for me. If I want a ton of “theater” I’ll take the Aventador S but if I want an amazing all around car I take the 720S. Overall the 720S is the perfect car imo. Comfortable, fast as a hypercar, great sound system, and personally I think it’s one of the best looking cars in the world.

I LOVE the 488 design, why cannot somebody stick a 458 motor in it ....

 

Honestly you probably could. It would just take a **** load of money and a seriously good fabrication shop.

Just remove the turbos like you suggested in your other silly thread.

 

The best sounding V8 F-car is still the F355.... Go buy that if sound is all your after. The F8 sounds and looks awesome to my ears and eyes as does the 488.

I once asked a guy in a 488 if he heard the 458 and his reply "Not since 2nd gear"! LOL

How does AMG do it ? Their V8 twin turbo cars sound fantastic ! One must admit they do have a more American muscle car thump and don't rev nearly as high as the 488 does..

 

I drove the Roma last week and I think it sounded great with virtually none of the turbo whine...

 

The X-pipe style systems like Fabspeed or Kline sound the best to me on a 488. I would go with the Kline Inconel setup.

I absolutely love the 488 motor, I have it in the 488 challenge (over 10,000 km on track where every single gear change was at the red line), the 488 pista spider, the 488 piloti. love love love. it’s also in the portofino. It’s not a scream like NA but sounds great to me and the power delivery is intoxicating. I’ll take the driving experience over the slow quaint feeling of the older NA V8s.

My 488 has a catless novitec system and I think it sounds great. Possibly too loud though.

 

Forget it. Seems like most who pjss and moan about the 488 and Pista sound never track their cars. Seems like some want the noise for the attention and don't care one bit about how much better the 488, F8 and Pista are as drivers cars. But if all you do is "racing" between red lights and revving the car for your mates, I suppose the 458 is better. But then again, why not then just a 355, or if loud and proud is really your game, get a show quality first gen F-body with an uncorked 632 and a 14-71 poking through the hood.

I agree… I daily drive an E63S. Love the car. And the gurgle from the exhaust is amazing. Not as intoxicating as my F430, but still incredible. All of that said, I would take a 488 spider in a heartbeat

My wife had a AMG C 63s and now drives a Aston Vantage which has the AMG engine. Stock sport exhaust that sounds really good. No fart sound but I’ve heard AMG GT-R’s locally with very open exhaust that don’t sound as good.

Thought about the 720 S before ordering my F8 Spider. We don’t have a McLaren dealer though and I didn’t want to truck it every time I have an issue.

Really looking forward to my F8 Spider.
