I've just dropped off my wheels for a full re-furb, and the guy has asked what the colour is.

Does anyone know what the original paint code / colour is for standard 355 wheels, or where I might find that info?

There's a great thread in the 355 section with lots of pics where they do a re-furb and they quote the paint colour "Argento Silverstone" but no paint code and I can't find any reference to that colour in my searches.
(And yes, I have asked the question there too).

    Cheers

Not sure. It presumably does but I guess I'd have to get in touch with the dealer in the UK for that?
Or perhaps could get it through the local dealer (from the factory)?

I was hoping that it would be pretty simple to find out. As far as I'm aware there was only one colour for the standard wheels.
    Happy to be corrected, though.

I'd like it to be as factory correct as possible.

I think when you're dealing with cars of such historical importance as a 355F1 GTS, one should do everything possible to maintain originality...

I will. He's the man, for shore. :)

I hope your painter does. These wheels need special care and attention when you paint them coz they're a magnesium alloy. Real PITA I'm told.. Be super careful with any restoration/repair work.

Not sure so much on the later cars, but I would only use someone whom had done them before.

I'm no expert (of magnesium alloys) by any stretch of the imagination, but I've heard this repeated quite a few times.

If any curb rash repair is being done, the dude really needs to know what he's doing.

Back in the day before forged aluminium wheels reigned supreme. Or carbon if you're a flog.

I was very careful about who is doing the work. He has worked a lot with magnesium wheels and really knows what he's doing.

I know the 355 wheels are slightly unusual (even in Ferrari world) because of this.

He had a good look over the wheels today and said they're in very good shape already.
I'm confident the result will be great. :)

Yeah I had mine done a little while ago. Got some nice new hubcaps and sticky rubber for them, they came up a treat.

I was tempted to go a tint darker on the colour, but decided against it and kept them OE. I do like my gun metal wheels but ya know how it is in Ferrari world.

    They look great. Nice job.
I did very briefly consider flirting with a slightly different colour, but it was never really on the cards.

Nice shields. Every Ferrari should have them, and at least it was a factory option on your car.
    Ignore the stick-in-the-mud loosers.

Why do you think factory endorsed and raced cars are for poofs?
