From what I can tell, PTU failures tend to be creeping so that there is some warning of impending failure.
I’ve been stranded 1000km from home by a faulty fuel pump so the PTU alone is not a reason to avoid long journeys in your F-car.

I love my FF as a daily driver. More fun then my 2006 M5 that I put 160k miles on. I have 42k on FF. I plan to just drive the wheels off it

2500 miles crazy. I’d never do that even if my FF was bullet proof. It’s not comfortable enough compared to our s63. Specifically with those novi springs I got on. The car is capable of doing
Though. Harry from Evo did a lot of miles in the winter with it.
I Actually did it in the s63coupe, sf Miami and all those GT assist that it has came up handy.
Don’t get me wrong still love my FF but it’s in between a GT and a sports car and I think that’s why they made lusso softer to appeal
    Specifically to the GT side

I would say yes but I think even without load through the PTU internals are still in movement.
So no track no snow no launch etc... may certainly helps but the seal can still fail.

:D:D:D Fuel pump was 4 days to fix and almost a flat-bed home. At least the courtesy car was a Quattroporte even though the dealership was very apologetic about ‘only’ having a Maserati to lend us.

I never ever had/got an offer for a courtesy car from Autoropa..... They don't seem to understand that concept.....

That was me. I loved the spec (except for the seat belts) but got it at a decent enough price to absorb a PTU if needed. Super pumped to get it! If anyone knows the car, I'd love to hear from you.

I joins this thread some time ago, a time I was searching to buy an ff and wanted to get a sense of how they were perceived in the market and to get feel for their long term appreciation, as I have.

we appear to have gone interestingly granular

    To date, I note that:

Colour, trim and extras are everything - given the ambient, aesthetic, emotive performance - but also that every buyer can convince themselves of anything

That the car should be answerable to any question on history, mechanical or provenance

That your heart should rule your head

The colour has bee christened ‘bin bag grey’ in the comments section of the news story for the crashed FF.

I saw it at a local dealer and it made my heart cry. Apparently it’s a writeoff.

Replacement parts aren't going to make themselves. Much of it will be recycled by parting it out, I'm sure.
