Japanese restaurant credit card system was down, cash only. Don't like CDN cash, our money is made out of some plastic material. Ended up at White Spot, they have a dine in your car option and you can order take out at the drive in area. So that's what I did. They limited their menu, even though I had a burger last night. Did a bacon cheeseburger with onion rings. Plus an order of chicken strips. I was hungry.

Yes, its a thin polymer type plastic. I hate them. Most Canadian retailers will take US. But they hose you on the exchange rate.

I'm moving at the end of Feb. So time to clean out the small freezer in the garage. Not much in there, but enough to have a few dinners at home. Tonight will be one of two turkeys. Having my brother and parents over to help eat it. Want min left overs.

Excellent plan. Moving is always a good time to downsize the clutter. Moving far?

Making pinto beans. Depending on how they turn out, may make them into refried beans. Pics later.

Not a great pic, but also hot pickling red onions and jalapeño pepper slices. I'm thinking Tex Mex in the near future!

Not sure how far yet. Looking at several areas. Id like to do a six month lease because nothing for sale interests me. Average house prices in the area's I'm looking are $1million and for that it doesn't buy much. Condo/townhouse sales are down here. Low end is the first to go. So think in six months prices will be better. Even if prices stay the same, hope better listings in spring/summer.

I'm hungry, want dinner now. But turkey isn't ready yet. I take Bella to a park every day. They have a large fenced off area for dogs to go off leash. You can walk the perimeter its a track. From the off leash area to my parking spot. If I walk around the track twice and back to my truck its 2 miles. Works up an appetite.

When we were young, at the holidays, if my grandmother was cooking a turkey, she'd cook up the giblets, necks, etc. separately and if we pestered her before the turkey was ready, she'd give us some of those bits with Italian bread.

Pinto beans. Soak for about 15 min and rinse. Repeat. Bacon, ancho powder, cumin, dried cilantro, garlic powder, onion flakes, salt and pepper. Simmer about 8 hours. Going to have mine on a fresh cooked tortilla with some salsa verde...T

Bella gets the giblets, liver and those bits. She's not crazy about the liver, but will eat it hidden in her kibble.

Looks really good. I recently bought some tikka masala from Costco that was pretty tasty. Yours looks way better though!!

I made chili verde today. Been simmering for a few hours, almost time to eat. It smells so good in the house right now!

Life was great before the world discovered flanken style short ribs. Can go in so many directions with a tasty little cut of meat. Yours looks to be three napkin goodness...T

I think it'll be good. They're doing my usual dry brine. Will put on the smoker later today.

No I'm not trying these like brisket. Lol. I think one I'm going to smoke till medium and the other I'm going to pull off early and then crank the heat up and sear it.

I've done reverse sear w/ the low/slow phase on the smoker. It came out great.
Do you knock some of that salt off before finishing it up?
