Popped last bottle of Lanson Black Label last night. I'm going to give this brand a rest. It is a good value; can be purchased here for about $ 38.

Yikes! One thing about Krug NV, the halfs are readily available. I always kept plenty of those around. Going for $80 out there for the 375s

    https://www.wine-searcher.com/find/krug/1/usa/-/n

Crush and Sherry Lehman I've been to and bought loads from over the years. $160 for the full size bottle and $80 for the halfs...I may have to make an order, but shipping to WY when it hasn't been above freezing in a month isn't ideal...

Our local Wegman's has Krug for $ 180; best price I have seen. We are opening a micro grower Champagne Saturday...a new one for us. I will post. Cheers!

Last evening tried a new grower Champagne: Larmandier-Bernier Premiere Cru. This is an Extra Brut blanc de blancs. As one might expect, it is a very dry, and I mean VERY dry wine. First taste is of burned toast, followed by apricot and caramel. A pale wine with ample microscopic bubbles. If you enjoy Champagne with food this one would be a good compliment. Retails here for about $ 70. Worth a try if you enjoy this style of Champagne. Extra Brut is not that common. SANTE

How did i miss this! I love champagne and friends laugh at me. Once I started making more money I just don't enjoy "sparkling wine" or prosceco. I love me real champagne.

I will easily splurge on mid tier champagne and sometimes enjoyed bottles like Dom or Cristal.

Hello Tamas. For value, I like the NV Taittinger and Roederer.

Because I like the splurge at times nothing beats showing up at a party with a dou of magnum bubbly with some big boy brands...except the fact that here it costs about 150 Canadian per bottle for them.

Veuve Clicquot has been a very different wine in the past 10 years from what it used to be.

I know this is the Champagne thread but several posters mentioned other sparklers. For brunch yesterday I opened a Paula Kornell Cali methode champenoise. This was a very nice wine, medium size bubbles, a ginger ale color and full of flavor. Not overwhelmingly yeasty; good fruit (pineapple) flavors. The wine maker is the daughter of Hans Kornell who was a Cali pioneer in sparkling wine. You might pick one up to try. About $ 23 retail here in NC

We agree.... Veuve Clicquot is over rated. It's the famous yellow label which sells it. For a similar price, Laurent Perrier is far superior.

If you can find 2008 Laurent, it is great...around $70 a bottle...as most 2008 are great!

We opened a bottle of Drappier NV last night. A small, old house (founded 1808) from the Cote d'Or. This was a nice bottle and good value for those of you who like to toasty, yeasty style of Champagne. Amber in the glass, mid sized bubbles. Caramel in the nose as well. My local guy had it on sale for $ 45 and the bottle was very fresh.

I only recently heard that Bollinger made a still Pinot Noir. I opened it tonight with a seared duck breast. It’s a very interesting bottle, and while not in the same vein as Burgundy bottles in the same price range, it is worth seeking out if you are a Bollinger fan.

I first came across Drappier in Air Canada business class in 2017 before later meeting their UK representative at a friend's party. A very good champagne but not well known. It comes from the extreme south of the champagne region in the département de l'Aube. The A5 autoroute runs through the area.

Opened a bottle of Pommery Rose last evening. My regular seller had this on special and encouraged me to try it. My expectations were not high. This wine was quite dry, some of the typical fruit flavours, fairly large bubbles. It was pleasant enough just no real complexity or distinguishing characteristics. I think it was about $ 40 on sale. Would be a good summer aperitif for a deck or pool party.
