Wait a bit for the Icona predictions...I wouldn’t call them “failure”. The Lusso replacement prediction was indeed wrong. Sent from my iPad using FerrariChat
What do you make of this pic from earlier in the thread? It looks like there are two central uprights in the front grille area - a bit like 488. Haven’t seen this before on a V12. The mule also looks like it has the kind of protection that hides the lines, potentially meaning there is some finalised bodywork under it. Interesting? Image Unavailable, Please Login
After all the combative garbage spewed over the past 4-5 pages finally something that brought a smile to my face Thank you @ingegnere, a little reminder of why I like this forum!
Right observation! I had not considered the idea that under those strips there could be a part of the bodywork or in any case mustache or aerodynamic appendages. We have to see what turn this 812 takes: extreme, loaded and muscular line; or a bad sporty and severe but austere line like the one-off Omologata
Nice !! exactly what I wanted...thanks a lot Agreed on the blacked out part... I want the mouth to be the biggest possible, a freakin' shark-whale and inspired by the pista front fascia
As I posted previously, I think the definitive design is hiding under the camo in this car: Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login The two central pillars, I think, are just “straps” that span the height of the grille opening. For sure this car and the red mule—which had a very well developed grille area, very much production level quality and hence the inspiration for my sketch—have some padding at the outboard edges of the nose where I expect a TdF-type splitter and maybe a turning vane and Pista-like vent in front of the wheel opening. Next is figuring out what’s happening at the rear quarter and back end. Hopefully they will have fixed the big-car-hiding-a-smaller-car look at the rear. Of interest here is the rear glass area which, as pointed out by @JTSE30, may have some louvres. Looking forward to seeing that the quarter scoop and ugly rear fender vents are gone so allowing a more muscular quarter wheel hump. The big box at the bottom outboard corners may just be the muffler box and venting for this. Don’t think it’s an aero flick as the mules have downward facing louvres. Hopefully will be nicely integrated like on the Potrofino M. Rear lights the same? Thoughts? Unfortunately the doors will probably remain the same so expect to see the weirdly surfaced sheet metal again. The only piece they may change—because it’s small and separate from the front fender—is the lower front fender panel behind the vent. Probably add a strake or some CF detailing, like on the TdF.
I must say, I find it quite difficult to work much out from these shots. The front of the TDF is a work of art and much more beautiful than the standard car. It doesn’t look like there is the same elegance under the covers of this mule, which would be a shame. If the doors are unchanged, changing the sides of the front valance needs care because the creases on the 812 seem linked. There definitely seems some sort of slat arrangement at the rear, which is probably interesting. They don’t seem to go fully across the rear screen, which might indicate that they have something to do with the styling on the rear flanks maybe? Looking at the vent holes might give some clues - the rear diffuser looks to be much larger than the standard car, for example. There also looks to be some vent holes on the forward part of the rear wings, ahead of where they were on the TDF. There are vent holes where you would expect them from the standard 812 on the edges of the rear panel, which don’t give much away. There are also lots of bonnet vents, which may or may not correspond to venting underneath. Not much help I’m afraid. Speaking as someone who didn’t get a TDF and would very much like to own the 812 VS, I think the 812 version might be more brutal looking compared with the elegant beauty of the TDF. Some might say that follows the character of the respective standard cars but personally, I always loved the look of the 812 compared with the F12. I hope I’m wrong though, I really thought they did a wonderful job on the TDF and if the 812 VS approaches that, it’ll be magnificent.
Exactly, lacks the classic and timeless feel of TDF. The rear is a little destabilizing, we like it or not.
With respect, I think you reveal a little prejudice here - the point is nobody can tell what this is like because the camouflage gives very little away.
any news/idea on timing? I think some people on the forum felt dealers calls would be rolling out at the end of this week but others think it's more of a Feb event?
Some regions will have dealer chats by this weekend- and rollout to most by 15th feb - as always , imho Confirmation of the exact number of limited numbers by customer notification between 1-15 feb ... again , imvho...
