Track Days/Motorsport

Finally got the car back on the ground today, a major front end rebuild after I got clipped on the front left wheel at SMSP last November. I decided to go through everything, shocks, uprights, control arms, rod-ends, etc. All dimensions are perfect now, plus I made some geometry changes to suit the radial tyres too. Another day for wheel alignment and corner weights and I'll be ready for Phillip Island first weekend in March.

Btw Ian are you still getting any coaching from Bart, he's certainly with Nick Kelly every time I see him.

 

I saw him the other day (his Dad does my uprights). I felt I'd gone as far as I could with his simulator, but he has a 2 seat Radical now and I think it would be useful to have his feedback in real time in the real world.

 

I forgot it was on the sim, yes he bought one of Tony Palmer's old 1.3L Radicals that we school cars, it couldn't hurt to get some real time, you can drive his Radical with him sitting next to you & miked up helmet to helmet or visa versa.

 

That would be awesome!

 

We used to use our SR3 for corporate days at times, take clients & friends out, put them into the drivers seat with a pro coach or myself next to them, they always reckoned it was the best client day ever, lots of them would say they get taken to football boxes or track days as passengers but never actually driving, so they certainly never forget the experience they would tell me.

 

I'll bet!

 

I have a client who hosts skid pan half days for around 8-10 people.

Costs around $3,000 including lunch.

Very sought after invitations.

When you dismantle suspension to a bare chassis, then reassemble with new components, nothing ends up exactly where it was before. Especially in an open wheel car, because everything is adjustable. So you have to measure and adjust till it's perfect, again.
