Thanks, but if they are the same engine type, I don't see how putting the original engine back in GT, and giving the "wrong" one to the GTE would harm the GTE owner. He has the wrong motor anyway. In fact, I'd think the GTE owner would make out very well on that kind of deal, because it seems to me that the GT owner would be willing to pay money above a simple swap to get it. That's what I would try to do if I owned that GT, but I'm not interested in vintage Ferraris other than that I love looking at them and find the subject interesting. But you have satisfied my curiosity, so thanks again.
I suppose Jay Leno is one of those people? Ron Pratt? You do realize that some of the most wealthy and known car collectors in the world collect Corvettes right? I would hope you would also understand some extremely wealthy people don't like Ferrari cars right? Didnt a Corvette just sell for upwards of 2 million late last year?
Wow! Nice machine..L88 cars have always been the holy grail of corvettes. That and the ZL-1. I think one of those sold for close to 4 million a few years ago..
Another one at Dana's w/cool back-story - and kinda extra-cool the born-with engine (among other active ingredients) stood the test ... https://www.mecum.com/lots/SC0520-414684/1967-chevrolet-corvette-l88-convertible/
You can get a new and improved version authorized by Ford as a continuation model, if you just want the experience. https://www.motortrend.com/news/1963-superformance-corvette-grand-sport-review/ Image Unavailable, Please Login Go to the track and put your A.J. Foyt face on.
I would like to have one of their Mk I GT40's with an aluminum small block and fuel injection for track days. Don't care if it's "fake" they are better than the originals in many ways. And you can drive them to the track and back.
I dont know about that. These things are authorized buy the very company that built them..so they are a bit more then a fake. Same goes with the GT40, Cobra's and Shelby Daytona's they produce. All authorized buy Ford to carry the name. They are a bit more then just another kit car.
If you guys are into continuation cars, this is the one to buy https://www.hemmings.com/stories/2020/11/16/continuation-re-creation-whatever-its-called-harry-a-millers-four-wheel-drive-v-16-roadster-will-once-more-showcase-extreme-thirties-engineering
I think the next Artcurial auction will show us a glimpse of the current state of the market in these uncertain times. Some big non-Ferraris cars there - Matra 670, a 550 Spyder... Mr. FP acquired some really nice cars over the last couple of years, so I'd guess a French Le Mans Winner would look great next to his 250 GTO
