DFV's had slide injection Pat, no butterflies, but the slides are infamous for jamming when wide open.
The 1st motors for the LWT E-types were on slide injection very quickly they went to butterflie and picked up HP?
that surprises me, because slide injection has one big advantage - there's nothing in the way of airflow at wide open.
I think Bob built a Cooper S engine for Harry, which threw a harmonic balancer and then spun a bearing after I bought the car off him - beware of Greeks bearing gifts...
Many times over Australian champion winning driver John Bowe has announced he is now under treatment for cancer of the prostate .
found this 1985 photo of the final corner at Oran Park, with the infamous concrete wall. Rex G's 308 chasing Ziggy S in the black BB (now owned by Gleggy). Both cars had eventful lives. Image Unavailable, Please Login
85 National Rally track day. 1st pic is the C4 that shortly after hit the wall. Behind it is Phil M's (from SA) Queen Mary. 2nd I think is Howard's Daytona (daytonaman on here) Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
That 250 LM... drooool. Shame that it has lost its character in the hands of Ralph Lauren - just like Stephen Mitchell’s GTO has (although not as bad as the GTO).
Odd fellow that Ziggy bought an early Matich A50 Repco and told Bob M with the Lola t430 ,I'm going to beat you.....lol lol
Yes, the GTO when Stephen Mitchell owned it was a 15 year old ex-race car with most if not all of its original features including from memory subtle roof-mounted night lights installed for LeMans. Since Ralph Lauren bought it's been restored to become a generic representation of a 250GTO with all that individual period detail and history erased. Even the nose was modified to look like a generic GTO. It's "perfect", but is not what it once was, so it has been totally Ralphed.
Around 1986 I tried to get TB to sell me his BB, offered him $80K for it. He said no, but I could have the Daytona for that. I said no thanks. Proof that I'm an idiot. (not than anyone needed it)
