it was my friend’s birthday dinner.

 

I had the decanter out for that 2008 Silver Oak.

 

Clearly I need to be in your friendship circle too.

 

Hopefully I can visit you when this pandemic is over...

thanks Pis7a2020...blame it on Covid, can’t travel and drive our toys. So we can only open our bottles and share them with good friends and family.

 

I agree....my wine purchases and consumption with friends has increased significantly.

I recognize all of those labels except for the fifth one down that’s obscured by the decanter...what was that one?

With curfew (so no restaurant) I have to rely on my personal reserve... typically I am not a big fan of Saint-Julien but giving it a second chance I have to admit this one was not that bad; good thing is that the GF appreciates it (she has usually more difficulty with my favourites, which are often more tannic)

Alan. Here's your call now! I'll be right up! I remember back when Parker touted the 82 vintage. A friend and I bought 8 cases of futures to spilt of a variety of 82s but back then could not afford the first growths. We drank some great wines and my last bottle (LaFleur) of the 82 vintage from that purchase was consumed a few years back and it was showing beautifully. We bought on Parker's recommendation a Pomerol, Ch. Rouget that was $ 96 the case en premiere and it was fabulous. Those were the days. Sante

You should get on Carlisle or Bedrock mailing list. Great quality wines that age well or drink young. I don't think Prisoner would make the cut.

 

This is one of my favorite. Can’t go wrong for any occasion. Always find a reason to open this bottle. maybe Easter is a good time?
