McLaren is obsessed with minimizing the impact on weight by these hybrid systems. We may see their carbon tub strategy starting to pay outsized dividends in the new powertrain era.

As admirable is their carbon tub, i always thought their car looks like a plastic toy ( the 540 range the most )

Already bored....It looks exactly like how I expected it to look. An evolution of the 5xx series with some styling cues from Elva stuck on it.

One thing is for certain, the new Ferrari will be NEW! And for that alone I prefer it to this McLaren.

I doubt the scoops are real design features. With all the cladding that these mules are forced to wear the airflow patterns are bound to get disrupted. The scoops are probably there to help the air flow a better.

looking back I would say that at 99% ferrari will be heavier about +150kilos and mclaren will declare 80-100hp less than the real number. Mclaren still win "on youtube" and ferrari still don't give a sh*t about it and still count their earning increase. Same story. That's all.

Let’s not forget that Aston Martin has their gorgeous mid engine hybrid V6TT Vanquish coming as well, maybe a year later. Apparently, they maybe having problems with the hot V set up, and may just use the AMG 4.0 V8TT, which I suspect the V6 is based on (just lopped 2 cylinders off of).

Yet another McLaren using the same carbon tub as the 12C. At least for a change it’s got a new engine... yawn

It’s an all new tub developed for their next generation hybrid platforms. It’s also made in-house at their new composites technology centre vs being outsourced.

I found this video to be quite informative.

That is not true. ITs a brand new carbon tub developed for the Artura.

Not sure what the latest speculation is for the official name of LB. Assuming it's a 3 litre (ish) V6 then maybe it'll be called the 306 or F6?

F6 would make it sound like an inferior F8 rather than the next best thing

The numbers with 3 digits and a 0 in the middle are blocked by Peugeot. Then should be 316 (if 3.1L). Could also use the volume by cylinder instead of the whole engine volume. For a 510mm3 per cylinder (almost a 3.1L engine), that would make 516.

Please Ferrari, give it a name with numbers and a word as per many other models... (612 Scaglietti, 360 Modena...)

516 would be a good model number! Shows progression from 488 etc. Think they may be running out of names to add. Maybe the 516 Mugello would be good!

I was just reading up on the electric eel to try and come up with a snappy name, but struck out; however, you guys should read this—fascinating creature and some interesting research at Yale trying to incorporate similar tissue/cells into humans to power implanted medical devices.

LaUnicorno or LaPegaso, a unicorn or pegasus are mythological derivatives or horses. Then again Ferrari doesn’t have a history (that I know of) of naming cars after horses/animals.

What about going the McLaren route and naming it F790 or whatever the HP rating or even torque rating is.

Or perhaps simply calling it a name without and numerical additions, like the Roma or California. Mugello Berlinetta anyone?

I pray the design of LB is more than an evolutionary change from the 458-488-F8. Hopefully we will see something along the lines of what they did when moving from the 430 to the 458. I fear an evolutionary style change coupled with a hybrid V6 may be a difficult sale for Ferrari.
