I wonder who bits at these asking prices. 5 years sales history for all 3 models. What to make of it?
Looks like spiders are selling. Not so much Bs and GTS. Why? Asking price, availability, both?

You should’ve bought the one that didn’t have a horn a year ago if you’re just gonna hang it :).

This one actually came with the leather-covered column, which is why I was willing bid top dollar.

Only conclusion I can draw from those graphs is owners/dealers are unloading Spiders at a high clip and satisfied with any price over $60k.

I was kidding about hanging it. This was the only complete wheel I have ever seen for sale.

Look at the sample size for the GTB and GTS's. Owners aren't selling...and the ones that come up are usually not of high quality. Nice examples are being hoarded. Those charts don't reflect the real market.

what don't you understand? what's wrong with you? I haven't posted to this thread in over a day. I didn't bring it up. I only posted in this thread asking about 355 Spider market conditions, that's what this thread is about, right? OTHER users brought Dave up, which is perfectly fine talking about Sticky RX or his 355 knowledge. However, I didn't talk about the conflict at all, at least 3 OTHER users brought it up. Damn straight if someone else brings it up, I will defend what FerrariChat did, users don't know 99% of the story. I will also make it clear when users like you and carnutdallas WRONGLY accuse me of being the one that brought it up.

Looks like your bid was roughly $3200 USD + service fees. Strong bid my man.

But where are the Berlinetta and GTS sales for over $100k? Back in Nov. 2020 a 31k mile B was bit to $89k on BAT but didn't sell. Sellers may be asking $100k + but the buyers don;t seem to be there.

The car for sale are the market. Cars in someone's garage mean nothing. People have been listing cars here with ridiculous asks. You have listed two, for $120k and $175k. I don't see sales reflecting that as realistic. Availability in the US is one thing. But there are plenty in Europe. Look at Mobile.de and see ho many Berlinettas are for sale. I'll save you the effort, 90 cars on Mobile.de, 41 Spiders, 42 Berlinettas.

Berlinetta asking prices from 55k (21,000 miles) to 134k (6800 miles) euro. Half are under 80k euro ask.

Looking at the 41 spiders, low ask is 69.5k (18,000 miles). High is 139.9k (36,000miles). 21 are under 80k euro ask.

None of that means anything. Sales define the value.

First of all for someone who created this forum u should really pay attention about how u talk to people you don’t know. Have some respect and proper language I didn’t address you in a disrespectful fashion so we are done here. Stop bashing the man, you did what you had to do end of the story and I didn’t bring anything up I was just responding to you as evidenced by the quote function I used quoting you.Smh

I've been through almost every single ad for any 355 for sale in Europe or Japan (and North America of course). The cars that aren't selling have some detracting factors in one way or another. The price range is so broad because there's so much that can affect the value.

I personally know of a 95 GTB that sold for over $200k USD with Carbon seats, pre airbag. A little over 10k miles.

I've personally lost out on multiple cars that sold for over $120k USD because I didn't move fast enough.

As an enthusiast...I wish prices would stay low. I also wish there were more nice examples with rarer specs that came up for sale but the reality is out of the roughly 600 F355's for sale in the world right now that I'm aware of (all variants included), maybe 4-5 of them fit that bill...and it's probably actually closer to 1-2 of them off the top of my head.

So yeah...I disagree with that chart. That chart also doesn't take into account for any real deals that are happening at dealerships. Just public results...that's a small small small fraction of the actual market.

Rob Lay, I never accused you of anything. Not at all. I sent a respectful, professional PM. You asked a question about spiders 2/10. People responded. Someone brought up Dave without saying a word to you. You jumped in about Dave being a bad Apple. I sent a PM about keeping it out of this thread and that seems impossible for you. Fine. We can mute each other. Mutual respect is extremely important. I do not agree with everyone and love the dialogue on here. I belong to over 60 forums. I spend most of my time here after 20 years of forums, because most of here are 50 plus - no offense to anyone under 50, just baselining my peer group - But come one man, let it go. Keyboard dialogue is bad communication at times, this could be a case of it.

My apologies for all and to Rob if I did anything wrong. I am truly sorry for any mud in this thread. I like Dave, spent money with Dave and I know his keyboard dialogue can be “short” at times, but he is a gentleman, a perfectionist and expert in more ways then one. Sorry he is gone. We do not know the whole story and no offense to Fchat or Rob for having a different opinion, but damn..... it is just a bunch of us guys talking about cars, when others in the world can’t even eat!

    Cheers!

Cars are undervalued and finally going up. Glad I own one [emoji2956]

Obviously my motivation is to not harp on it and move on. Users bringing it up when I'm not or you posting a day later about it is just festering it in the community. Since users can't get past it, there is some motivation for me to just bust it wide open again and really educate EVERYONE.

back to 355's because I'm in the market and haven't been for 17 years since I got the Challenge.

can someone please give me the 101 on how the market ranks the various models? I'll give it a first try.

    Challenge > Fiorano > 1999 > 1995-1998?

    Manual > F1

    B > TS/Spider?

easy on me, I really have no clue because only became interested recently.

One good reason not to is he's not here to defend himself. I'll give him that respect although he didn't do that for FerrariChat for me.

1995 are considered more desirable than any others right now - my opinion. First year, no immobilizer, 2.7 dual MAF considered a plus. But issues with exhaust, etc. now most are fixed and updated, so not an issue.

1999 - Last year. All know factory defects resolved. So bookends are best.

GTB best performer, stiffer, more raw?

I can go on and will, but others can chime in.

With the way the market is going, I would assume current buyers looking for manual GTB/S’ are less picky about MY and more concerned about finding color combinations they like.

Agreed.... I don’t think any one year, is the “year” as we as a group have solved most issues and good money has been spent on these cars, that going forward may not need massive amounts of corrections.

So get what you want. Spiders are “soft” and more plentiful as available inventory, but that could change quick!

To me GTS F1 should be the holy grail at just under 600 units, but not the case - yet.

My suspicion is that cars are becoming more of an appliance everyday. Cars with souls will evoke emotion and desires that will drive prices as more people with disposable income, want a secret possession that is all soul. [emoji41]

Berlinetta's are all I care about. I'm glad GTS/Spiders exist to take some attention away from Berlinetta's. :D

So for me...it goes a little something like this in order of preference:

1994-1995 in rarer colour (not RC) with sport seats, pre-airbag priority, air-bag second.
1998-1999 manual in rarer colour (not RC) with sport seats and fender shields.
1996-1999 manual in rarer colour (not RC) with sport seats. ***
    1994-1999 manual with sport seats.
1998-1999 F1 with sport seats and/or fender shields. (rare colour ideally, not RC, but would be okay with RC)
1994-1995 in rarer colour ideally but okay with RC
1996-1999 in rarer colour ideally but okay with RC (manual trans)
1998-1999 F1 in rarer colour ideally but okay with RC
    Whatevers left over... :D

*** is where I'm at now.

Ideally would like to have a 94-95 pre-airbag car with sport seats, and another second one with the F1 and sport seats (shields a big plus).
