Yep 2x BC's....and an hilarious race between an SLR 5000 (that's what the decals were) and the best of my BC's......beer o'clock story.
I knew that white 2 litre very well ,friends had it in the early 80s for lap dash racing ,it ended up restored by another guy but was destroyed in the late 80s in a crash. By 1973 the cars were group C and modified and ran slicks ,different to the period Ian has written about, yes the earlier years the cars were blue printed ,well the factory cars but on the whole they were off the showroom floor so to speak.
In 1967 the 1750 GTVs should have won against the XR GTs but for wheel studs becoming loose , some of the outstanding drivers of the period were in the 1750GTV's . two GTVs finished on the same lap as the winning Firth /Gibson GT in 3rd and 4th spot from memory.
'73 still had a few weber Chargers and as noted XU1's....and 28 retirement,so you'd have to presume there'd be some in there..Brock was a retirement amongst a shipload of other front runners.
Well given my memory is shot to shoit I'll refer to the book! You're right and wrong! '67 had the 1600 GTV's nearly nailing the GT's..3rd and 5th.
Absurd? I posted the facts of the '71 race, because we were discussing the E38 Charger. Why 67 or any other year is relevant is beyond me.
With your motorsport history, memory and knowledge I wouldn't have thought hitting the red wine so early would have effected you...
