Anyone here has a good mechanic that has access to parts for mercedes SL450 (1975 YOM) car has some injector problems , and i am located around Redfern. My car is currently in Kogarah at a mates workshop. Thank you
Sounds like a D- Jetronic car right on the cusp of changing to K-Jetronic. Injectors for these models are not cheap, but purchase them out of the USA. Just plug the Bosch part number off the injector (Stamped on the side) into eBay.com Don't forget to do the injector seals as well. But before you do all of that, most injection problems with Mercedes-Benz are not injection at all. Being a 1975 model, your 450 will have adjustable tappets. Do this first: valve clearances camshaft timing (If over 130,000 kms, you must replace the chain and the guides) plugs leads cap rotor points fuel filter air cleaner oil change Then come to the D-Jetronic: check TPS. Not just at idle, but as it sweeps through its arc replace the points in the distributor for the D-Jetronic. There are separate points for the fuel injection below the ignition points, accessed from the side of the distributor cold start enrichment mixture integrity of the wiring harness connection to the ECU in the passenger side floor hoses from the rail to the injector if you're really keen you can check the duty cycle of the injectors on a scope, but basically if the car runs well and the exhaust gas analysis is within specification you need not worry about this. These early cars can be real flyers if set up right, most are not. Good luck.
Yeah, not sure if you were joking or not. But if not, zero interest in 1970s Mercedes-Benz work. Owners second only to Rolls Royce owners in expecting a complete engine overhaul and tidy up for $1,500. Here's my 280 SE from 1974 after 250 hours in the engine bay. Including sorting the D-Jetronic
It is cleanish. Radiator cap needs polishing and windscreen wiper cleaning fluid has insufficient detergent.
I just reported you for tattling on another forum member, see you in a month. Silly signature here to annoy KIAI
I always forget to forgive ..... believe in the old adage "Kill ém all, let god decide who were the good ones "
Its a cartoon that one . My mother would never own a Japanese car ,always said "they cut our boys tongues out"
