    From what it looks like it’s Ferrari TT V6 hybrid vs McLaren TT V6 hybrid (Artura) vs Aston Martin TT V6 hybrid (Vanquish) vs Lamborghini Huracan Evo.
    The F8 was the stop gap model (488 successor).

    Great package for the new McLaren, especially at the $225k price point. Although it looks much like all of the other models, this may be the best looking yet. For some reason it suits my eye better than the others. Excited to see Ferrari’s response.

    Agree....best looking execution of their theme so far, but feel like too similar to be excited. More cohesive than the SF90 for sure though.

    I like it. I bet in person it looks great. I think at $275k loaded with options it’s a steal.

    5 year warranty is good. Mclaren marketing department should be fired. Another car launch and another butt ass ugly spec. It looks much better with a darker color.

    That it’s a 3.0 L from a V-6 is not surprising—as I already noted, it’s pretty much become a standard among engine makers that for a turbocharged engine 500cc/cylinder is the most efficient size. What is surprising is that it’s also a 120 V like we expect L.B. and Aston to also have. This and the fact there’s no reverse gear and the battery pack is stowed vertically behind the seats like on the SF90 shows how the designers seem to have come up with the same conclusions on packaging.

    I guess the differentiation will come down to style, interior appointments and price, ultimately. Speaking of style, the Artura—what’s an artura, besides Italian-sounding?—exterior is very generic and cheap looking at back. Do all McLarens use the same windshield? And that steering wheel looks like it’s from a gamer set-up.

    As for the CF chassis all are talking about—including McL somewhat ingeniously stating how light the “tub” is—it really comprises a fraction of the chassis, the rest being aluminum for front and rear subframes and most likely also the roof:

    just as ..... it looks like a Porsche. or, it looks like a Lamborghini. or, it looks like a Ferrari. :) Each brand has it's design language. Thank god they don't all look alike. ;)

    It's all about the tub when it comes to chassis rigidity. That's the foundation. Cowl shake? Not in a car with a cf tub. ;)

    250lbs heavier and 50hp (probably even more) than a 720S. I guess I was expecting it be lighter and more powerful.

    It won’t outperform a 720. This is the 570 replacement. 720 replacement not here for a few years and likely close to 800-900 hp. This is the sports series- entry level Mclaren.

    Yeah- not a lot of carbon there but a hell of a lot more than any current production Ferrari.

    For the price point not bad. A better NSX, if you will.

    Hybrid = more weight. More power (v8? bigger battery pack? front electric motors?) = more weight. :(

    CF for the sake of CF? Do we know how LB compares in torsional and bending stiffness? I hope there’s no no cowl shake on coupe.

    Not sure I would say cf for the sake of cf. all I can share is my personal experience owning both a Ferrari and a mclaren.

    The mclaren is much stiffer, more nimble, more connected to the road. This is not to say the Ferrar is terrible by any means. The mclaren is just better.

    I for one can appreciate the carbon tub. It makes driving more enjoyable.

    it looks very good in a dark gray. This is good competition for the Turbo S. The warranty is a welcome surprise. I would daily this.

    I think you are right. LB will be a step above this but price point will also reflect that.

    I find it to be a handsome car. Familiar yet futuristic with good overall proportions. Look forward to seeing what’s in store for the 720 replacement but am expecting something that’s a bigger leap design-wise. It’ll need to exceed the real world performance of the 765 which it supersedes. In other words, a monster.
