"It’s got no aircon, no ABS and definitely no CD player, but a 1971 Ford XY Falcon GT-HO Phase III now has the record for the most money spent on an Australian-built car at auction.
Toppling a record set by a Holden just two and a half weeks ago, the pristine Ford sold for $1.15 million under the hammer, with the buyer also having to cough up a 5.5 per cent buyer’s premium.
Slattery Auctions asset manager Steve Waterman said the car was bought by a lawyer representing an anonymous buyer."

First landing I've watched since the moon landing .... I love NASA , they don't care where you're from or what your beliefs are just so long as you are smart enough

I'm shore eyed be leading a team if I worked there :p

It was incredible that the MRL determined it's own landing point by checking the landscape before touching down .... I'll bet Neil wished he had that for his landing :p

I don't understand it either, but prices for Aussie muscle cars have been steadily increasing for the last few years , expecially for GT HO Falcons and A9X Toranas. But even quite ordinary models are selling for silly money consdering what they were selling for 10 years ago.

I see it everywhere from guitars to basketball cards now Mike. The world was crazy before, now it's even crazier.

Where people are getting their money from I have NO idea!

Friends are getting back into basketball cards again and they are telling me people are spending $50K on sealed boxes of cards on the chance of getting something rare and collectable in there.

Which 20+ year old kid can come up with $50K to waste on a box of basketball cards? lol

And then there are the 1986 Fleer Michael Jordan Rookie cards. One sold two weeks ago for a record US $730K. `12 months ago it was a US $10K card at most.

The Brother and I purchased one back in May 1994. We went halves, was $1200 at the time which was big bucks. I am going to send it away to have it "graded" which is what gives it's real value among collectors.

Once we get it back, I might have to sell it because we won't see these dollars again in our lifetime lol. Mine is not going to be graded 10 like the US $730K, mine should be graded somewhere around a 6 to 8 I think.

Here is the asking price for a 7.5 out of 10. There are a few companies out there that grade cards, so it will vary a lot across them.

And don't get me started on the prices of collectable guitars.

Yeah man, friends are showing me the money people are bidding on what were $100 basketball cards 5 minutes ago lol.

Thousands and thousands of dollar for some random **** lol

Obviously there is something driving them up, but I just don't get where people are getting their money from. I haven't had a pay rise in 5 years or more and I don't think too many others out there have either.

From cars, housing, to cards and guitars and everything else in between, prices are on the way up lol.

    Something has to give! Surely!
