Why are Gene and René using a car with Niki's name painted on the side ?

Yes, IIRC takes about 4 months to build the track up.

Think about it: they just started, if it took four months the track would only be operational mid June. The first race weekend, the historic GP is late...April.

Correct build time is 7 to 8 weeks as stated by the ACM.

They are starting earlier this year because instead of two race weekends as is is usual they are having three, with Formula E and F1 as well since last year saw the historic and F1 GP weekends cancelled.

Maybe the whole process is 3-4 months. Build, race and take down of said track. Was told that by my business partner who used to live in MC, memory a bit hazy on total time but 3-4 months number was thrown around a lot.

Start of the Monaco GP construction !

A new coating covers the famous Pitlane of the Monaco Grand Prix stands.

The work was divided between planing work during the day and the application of 350 tonnes coated at night before the Monaco Historic Grand Prix.

It must have been a tranquil night for the residents of that building;). Terrific stuff as always Joe, thanks for posting.

THANKS for this! Just got my Pfizer vax #1 yesterday (with #2 scheduled for March 24), and I have my GP tix and hotel, so I plan to be there. Last year's cancellation was the first time since 1992 that I failed to attend the GP de Monaco, but I think my streak remains intact since there was no race!

I have tickets from last year..which are now deemed un-refundable for this year...Senate told my travel agent today that International attendees that cannot travel/attend can file a claim with their travel insurance if they can't get in.
The agent indicates France and the travel industry generally not booking or allowing travel until Fall. So not sure how all of this will play out!

I did not miss this race last year. Spent zero time thinking about it. F1 survived well without it. Good racing at other circuits to add variety of venue the sport has lacked.

Glad to see the race back on the calendar.

They need to add an asterisk to their logo "Since 1929": except for 2020...

Exciting locale but we delusional to call it a 'race'. Its a parade for most and it needs rain or accidents for excitement. Passing is nil. Should be a charity race. I will watch, under no illusion how little 'racing' vs something like Bahrain 2 weeks ago.

That is a good point. Award points based on qualifying. Have the race be for show/charity.
