To be fair, the SF90 is a bit quicker on the street than the 765LT on the stock tires (both driven by Brooks). But they're so close, it'll be a driver's race (until you slap a tune on the 765). Either way, I'd still take the 765 over the SF90.
So the outgoing model for Mclaren is as quick if not quicker than the brand new incoming next generation Ferrari? Got it. Lol. Look- at the end of the day all this horsepower madness is a pissing match. It’s useless drivel. Both manufacturers make great cars. But it remains that you cannot defend the fact that when it comes to performance, mclaren eats Ferraris lunch. Plenty of other reasons to defend and admire ferrari. It’s not because of their ground breaking performance.
I guess you missed where I said I prefer the Mac? I was simply pointing out the SF90 is quicker on the street, regardless of whether one is outgoing or incoming. To be frank, my car is faster than both of them so I don't care either way. I am, however, more interested in the 765 more than I am the SF90, due to the light weight and the mod-ability of the Mac, but I think they're both awesome machines regardless.
The 765 is a stupendously fast car, and I can only sit back and admire the progressively faster cars McLaren is releasing. Period.
Obviously I’d take a Laferrari over a 765, but I don’t think for a second that a 765LT wouldn’t walk a Laferrari. I’ve never seen a stock car so easily clip off 9.5s in the high 140’s. Not just Brooks car, I’ve seen others now. It’s game changing performance.
The excitement over the 765 is not solely due to its blistering speed but by all accounts it is the compelling, immersive and thrilling driving dynamics that completes the experience. A super car is not only about the speed with which one reaches the destination, but rather the ultimate enjoyment of the journey.
I wasn’t commenting that you had a preference of the ferrari over Mac. I agree with everything you said. My post didn’t convey my nod in agreement appropriately.
My 765LT just arrived at the dealer. I will probably start a separate thread to include details on my spec, PPF install, early review(s), overall ownership experience, etc. It’s my very first McLaren and I am super excited. Image Unavailable, Please Login
I dont know man.....that SF90 walked the 765 and we know how fast that is. Respect where respect is due. SF90 is a beast.
It walked it from a dig. From a roll, it got walked pretty hard by the 765. The SF90 has a traction advantage for sure. Both of these are awesome cars.
The SF90 has hyper car performance and price tag with super car looks. The SF90 - light weight version with options is $350K more expensive than the 765.
AWD is tough to beat, the 992TTS is similarly quick off the line as the SF90. He points out that the 765 was spinning at 100mph which has been my experience on cold roads. Regardless I wouldn't even consider the SF, it just doesn't do it for me.
Traction was a bigger issue than power without question. Anyone who’s spent real time driving a Mac knows you can’t lay on the throttle until the tires are throughly up to temp. Cold surfaces no bueno either. Do those runs in 80 degree temps and the results would look a lot different. I’m not suggesting the 765 would beat it from a launch, but it’d be door/quarter. The roll my money would be on the McLaren...
