Well, my new exhaust setup just arrived for my 17’ 488. Went with Novitec non valved and catless downpipes. Hopefully sounds good! Now just need to decide between Mase, Fabspeed or DME for my tune, any recommendations?

Was that in the MOMA? Seems like a work of art!

Why not get the Novi box? Plug and play, and fully reversible. You can keep your warranty, and when it is time to sell the car, you can easily remove it. An ecu tune will void any future warranties, and also discourage a lot of used buyers.

Mase has an impressive track record if you want an ecu tune, consider calling him and get a feel for what to expect and service after sale etc.

Do you have a 488 with the Novi? I do and agree it is a great setup and runs super strong.

Question for you, what is the max boost your in dash gauge shows with the Novi on race mode? When I added the Novi I know it added boost but the gauge still shows the factory max boost of 14/15.

The basic choice is between a piggyback system and an ECU flash. Each has pluses and minuses. The only place I got good answers to all my questions was from Blake Hansen at Vivid Racing/VR Tuned.

I already spoke with Mase on the phone and was excellent. So I’ll be using Mase for my tuning

Are you keeping your warranty? In that case, Novitec box. Any ECU mod will void any and all warranties.

I have the novitec with catless. The sound is crazy, but I'm having issues passing inspection :(

Here in the colonies, federal law provides lots of protection against warranty coverage being voided. Basically, the car company has to prove that the modification caused the problem. Also, installing a Novitec box requires cutting into the factory wiring.

One of the advantages of an ECU flash over a piggyback box is its superior ability to deal with high-flow cats or no cats.

Well then Novitec are a little bit of a liar, aren't they? Not as simple as PnP as they claim. It seems it is more like SPnP (Splice, plug and play)

Is this accurate? Because Novitec also has sports cat system and they use their plug and play system for theirs.

That’s not what the Magnuson Moss act is about.... that law is highly misunderstood by the tuning mod crowd. However is something does go wrong with the power train or anything the ECU controls Ferrari...and car company.... has ever right to void warranty and they will.

novitec “plug and play” tune is about as invasive of an install as an ECU tune is. it bypasses and connects to a bunch of sensors, spark, etc

My ECU flash was simple. I shipped it to Vivid Racing with a list of intake and exhaust mods and my wish to have stop/start disabled, and three days later it was back. A downside to an ECU flash is that it is erased if your Ferrari dealer flashes the ECU with a factory update, but a reflash is free at Vivid Racing.

The difference is that it is 100% reversible and thus you can remove it prior to warranty work. With the ECU mod you are on your own.
