I did a quick survey and did not find a thread on how to convert an active seatbelt system to passive. Has anyone out there done it?

I did it with my 1990. I switched to the normal style or euro style belts. I found a set of euro trim pieces and just cut the opening in the black trim. The mounting points for the belts are there by the B pillars and it's easy to pull the seats and put the receiver on the correct side of the seat. I pulled the fuse for the mouse tracks.

Did you purchase OEM European seat belts or did you go with generic belts? I'm in the process of converting to the euro active system (I too found some euro trim pieces). Thanks

I purchased belts for a different car that bolt right in, but I would have gone with belts from Superformance if they had them at the time. (I think it's Superformance that had them now)

Did the same with my 1990 only I just used 355 belts and trim pieces. They're usually easy to find on eBay.

Did you drill out the spot welds in the middle housing? I have yet to do that, but the center trim is waiting to be installed after I do it.

Not sure what you mean. I don't recall any spot welds.
