    Yeah. I flew Chieftains for a couple of years from Parafield to the mines in far north SA / southeast QLD.
    Moomba, Ballera, etc.

    Every single takeoff was max weight. Full load of fat-bastard miners and their gear. Shat myself every time.
    Returned to PF once with oil pouring out of the LH engine.

    Bloody glad I got away with that part of my career intact.
    And that is no slight on the company or the aircraft - they were very good aircraft and very well maintained.
    It’s just that at max weight those old piston twins are sketchy for the first couple of thousand feet.
    The second engine really only exists to take you to the scene of the accident if one fails shortly after takeoff.

    Yeah I always looked at the live engine as an extended glide to the smooth map of Tassie if you were lucky enough...In those days ignorance was bliss...:)

    Mel and I headed up to Willow Tree for the weekend. There’s a restaurant that’s famous for their steaks and did not disappoint The made in Phillipines gloves were pretty good too We came up the Putty Rd which was empty for 160km, awesome run
