Talk about inverted logic. The simple fact is that not once in modern history, starting with "The New Deal" in 1933, has government "stimulus" resulted in an increase in employment. What purpose would a "model" of non stimulus prove, apart from an imagined worse outcome, when in fact every period of economic and employment growth has resulted from the retreat of government involvement in the economy. Apart from WWII of course, which conveniently ended the 1937 recession which the New Deal caused, because US industry had an overnight massive market for military materiel. Ever since, the revisionist left has perpetrated the myth that the New Deal ended the depression.
Without looking at graphs , would not the American labor force (male) have been at one of its strongest growth periods during the 60s?
Do you honestly believe that in either of those circumstances there would NOT have been an increase in unemployment in some alternative solution? Of course stimulus doesn’t reduce the overall unemployment number; what it MAY do is cause the peak unemployment numbers to be less than they may otherwise have been. Quantifying that is difficult because it is all based on ‘modelling’ which you know as well as I do can be manipulated to say whatever you want it to.
