When I was young, foolish, and struggling I used to tell myself I’d know I’d made it if I could ever afford the total luxury of a Rolex Submariner. (never mind a house or something smart like a reliable car; ah the naive thoughts from youth)

Thanks to a ton of hard work, the love of a good woman, and blessings from God, I have quite a few nice watches. Often I will smile to myself and nod back to that young kid when I look at this watch; today I’m wearing a meters first 5512 from 1967.

    Interesting. My mistake.
I thought they were studs in the 4100.
Never owned one, but currently have two 25860st.
    Mine have studs.

No sweat, I was not even aware that the screws were supposed to be aligned until it was pointed out to me on here. Interestingly, the original Genta drawings & design for the RO featured screws that were NOT aligned. It’s hard to keep up with.

Very cool pair of watches you have there.

Thanks Ron. I do too! It’s my daily watch and I’m glad to have it. Interestingly I purchased it when they first came out and the reception seemed mixed, so much so that I got a nice discount. Nowadays they’re substantially more and it seems there’s a waiting list for even these. My only slight regret is not buying the baguette hour markers as they provided just a hint of extra that really works nicely with the dial. A couple of guys on here have posted them and I still can’t help but drool.

Turning Japanese part 2, my every day watch.
I once sold a 6263 Daytona for a nice price, bought two Japanese limited edition Seiko’s and spent the delta on my old Ferrari.
The quality of the J Range watches, made in Japan not SE Asia is superb, and I don’t have to keep them in a safe to keep my insurer happy. I am pleased with the trade. I have a JLC for dressier occasions.

I love the patina on this watch. Ferrari are there to be driven, watches to be worn ;)

You Patek wearers are putting us commoners to shame!
Any classic Calatravas out there? I'm on the hunt for a classic (but cheap) Patek, AP or Vacheron that needs some love....but not looking forward to overhauling their auto-thin movement - I forget that caliber number.

Love the 16520, and the fact that this was followed up by the platona. I’m sporting the modern steel guy... Image Unavailable, Please Login
