It's been a long time since I've been this excited about a Ferrari, probably since the Monza (ICONA). But maybe it's due to the fact that this will (probably) be the last purely NA V12 Ferrari.... But the announced Spec (Rumors) seems absolutely incredible. When I do the calculation in my head NA V12 of about 880hp (Personally I think it would be crazy), but especially 10,000 RPM I really have a doubt .... I mean, how? And the renders of @isot confirm me in the idea that this VS will be sublime. I can't wait to see this VS, do we have an idea of its weight?
One of our insiders said the power gap between the base model and the VS will be the smallest among the 3 front engine VS cars If true, the power should be around 835/840 hp I'm also very very excited
So that means no assistance to this car as a few have speculated here. Given Ferrari tend to showcase the new model through their VS could that mean that perhaps there will be another more limited edition after the VS that will showcase the technology in the 812 replacement? Thoughts?
I suspect it will be different this time if the next car is smaller block with hybrid. That would require a different chassis so not possible on the 812 platform. They won’t launch a VS of the new car before the main model. If the next car is not smaller block then no need.
I'd say less than 1525 kg, dry weight of the stock SF (w/ lightweight options, according to Ferrari)..however, it might not be far lower if the VS carries some form of hybrid system.
Couple of notes: some mules have a vent ahead of the front wheel opening, like Pista mules had. Don’t expect the hood mounted CF trim will extend this far or be this pointy. Also this change would make it line up better the fin you drew in the “triangle” below. Image Unavailable, Please Login
Ferrari has said on record that the current V12 is near its limits. Even, the track focused FXX-K has a specific output of 137 CV/litre. People expecting 880 CV and 10,000 RPM are just being unrealistic.
And that FXX-K has no emissions system, straight pipes I believe, so at 860PS or so, its 6.3L engine is unrestrained. To make 860PS from a street legal 6.5L with GPF+catalysts would seem impossible as it would need to make over 900PS without those restraints....remember the 458Speciale is the highest specific output n.a. Ferrari engine in street legal trim (~132HP/L). Seems clear that some assist is required to get the 812VS over 820PS...(my speculation as maximum possible in street legal setup without assist).
Congratulations to those who will get one, you will own a work of art that is more like ballistics than the automobile. A kind of coupling between a stick of dynamite and a Rafale fighter plane.
I’m crazy busy but I promise something this week. Note that I already included a vent in front of the front wheel opening in my sketch of the red car. In the meantime, I’ll put these “scribbles” or “doodles” I did when I was doing my last sketch, focused on the front. BTW, the first one is before the leak of the blue car and I noticed that I also pretty much forecast the floor of the SF21 (top left). Subsequent pics are from yesterday late but too tired to finish them. Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
Talking about weight, what is the lighter between a hood full made of CF or composite without any window, or a hood made of CF + a back window (lexan or other material)?
Not sure if this has been floated yet, but maybe power boost could be as used on the Lamborghini Sian by using a Supercapacitor for an extra 30-40hp?
This possibility has been suggested before. FWIW @day355 was hinting some kind of boost in the new 812VS (HY-KERS like) or that was my impression. I'm not aware of his connections but the way he expressed it seemed as if he knew and was willing to disclose, but not too much.
I do believe the SP30 and the Omologato are going to be the biggests source of design inspiration for the VS I saw those two pics posted today by the Ferrari club of american on their FB page, it's obvious For me is going to be a bastardization of a front Sp30 with the rear of the omologato, on a general 812 shape Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
