Fencing wire at neck height was a method to discourage dirt bikes on private land when I was a lad.

My sister nearly died after riding her ag bike through a new, shiny silver barbed wire fence on the cattle property where she lived - someone forgot to tell her about the new fence they were putting up...

    Really great for tourism! Not.
Most of that reporting is unfortunately correct.
'Our' fishing mob used to go to a couple of privately owned stations as well as Lakefield NP.
The stations have locked us out due to dykhead mobs, mainly from south of the border with their bloody dogs and guns running riot shooting anything and usually without a permit..
The NP's are opening later each year and don't open as many campsites as they used to.
    County is foicked!

Unfortunately a lot of remote Australia is being either ‘loved to death’ or just trashed by tourists. Should be 100% “take only photos, leave only footprints’ policy.

Well yes agreed but you've gotta be able to access those places where you should only leave your footprints
I think the wambamthankyoumam attitude is somewhat kneejerk.
Why not have some of the locals 'teaching/training' the tourists how they would like them to behave.....it's not as though they're flat out doing any other type of work.

Interestingly, in most places where Indigenous guides are available, they’re well appreciated by foreign tourists, Aussies not so much... But yes, some kind of compulsory induction is a good idea.

    The Snowman

    Last night it snowed.

    8.00am: I made a snowman.

8.10am: My feminist neighbour asked why I had not made a snow woman.

8.15am: I gave my snowman a sex change

8.17am: My feminist neighbour then complained about my snow woman’s large bosom, saying that it objectified women everywhere.

8.20am: The lesbian couple living nearby threw a hissy fit, and said that I should have made two snow women, so I made a partner for my snow woman.

8.22am: The transgender man/woman/person asked why I didn’t just make one snow individual with detachable parts.

8.25am: The vegans at the end of the lane complained about the carrot noses, as vegetables are food and should not be wasted in decorating snow figures.

8.28am: Black Lives Matter turned up and called me a racist because both snow figures were white.

8.30am: I used food colouring to make one of the snow couple a different colour to be more racially inclusive.

8.37am: I was then accused of an even worse offence, that of applying black-face to a white individual.

8.39am: The Middle Eastern gent across the road demanded the snow women be dressed in burkas for the sake of their modesty.

8.40am: The police arrived and read out the list of complaints that had been made against me.

8.42am: My feminist neighbour returned to complain that the broom that one snow woman was holding should be removed because it depicted women in a purely domestic role.

8.43am: The local Council’s Equality Officer arrived and threatened me with eviction.

8.45am: A TV news crew turned up. I was asked if I knew the difference between snowmen and snow women. Jokingly, I replied ‘snowballs’. The female news reporter denounced me as a sexist pig.

9.00am: I was on the morning TV news as a suspected terrorist, racist, homophobe and sensibility offender, bent on stirring up trouble during difficult weather.

9.10am: The police asked if I had any accomplices. My children were then taken into care by Social Services.

9.29am: Far-left protesters, offended by everything I’d done, marched down the street demanding my arrest for hate crimes.

9.45am: By now the story was all over social media. My boss called and fired me because of the negative association with his company.

10.00am: I cried into my drink because all I wanted to do was to build a bloody snowman.

Isn't it amazing how Tim Flannery was lauded for his vison on climate change and his ominous warnings about the dams never being full again. How much money did he pocket for that little junket? How much of MYMONEY have governments spent chasing this virtue-signalling boondoggle? FAARRRK!
Tim? Tim? Where are you, Tim?

The climate hoaxers face no consequences for their outrageous scare-mongering, however low income people and small business owners suffer increasing electricity costs with decreasing reliability. Meanwhile, zero MSM commentary on the obviously cooler summer we've just had, let alone the Texas freeze.

I was "inside the belly of the beast" at ANU in Canberra yesterday, with the engineers involved with Australia's electricity distribution networks. Apart from a language of impenetrable acronyms, I learned what a disaster rooftop solar is for our grids, how much instability is now baked in and how much worse it will become with any growth in EV's.

All of this to "solve" an invented climate crisis.

That’s really interesting Ian...I was planning to put solar panels on the shed to purely offset the cost of running the property in retirement ( not for climate as every time I go to work I dump 8 tonnes per hour of kerro into the atmosphere). I haven’t looked into it at all yet but I was told you get a rebate and halve your power bills. This is a substantial saving as it costs me 3K plus per quarter to run my joint..I wonder if there is another Avenue to look at?...

"SA Power Networks has been given the green light to remotely and temporarily shut down solar power systems in “rare circumstances” from September 28.
This authorisation has been granted out of concerns there may soon be times, particularly during spring, summer and autumn, when exports from solar power systems in South Australia outstrip electricity demand. In an electricity system, supply must match demand and vice versa – if that doesn’t happen, you start to see blackouts.

South Australia finds itself at ground zero because no other state has such a large share of rooftop solar (12.3 per cent of generation over the last year, and up to two thirds in some instances), and is threatening to push minimum grid demand down to levels that the Australian Energy Market Operator says are difficult to control.
Within a couple of years, AEMO says, minimum demand at times could be pushed below zero. This creates issues, it says, because it means less space for other generators to provide traditional services essential to keeping the grid stable."

What they don't mention is that the oversupply of energy drops the wholesale price of power to close to zero during the day - the result is that the R.O.I for new large scale solar (which, through the joy of virtue signalling, is popular with politicians) has been reduced significantly - and this is another driver for AEMO to shut down your rooftop solar.
Secondly, the baseload power generators ( coal ) can't just turn on and off their furnaces in a short term response to demand - they have to keep them buning 24/7. The oversupply of rooftop solar means that their daily cost recovery window has shrunk, so their prices at night, morning and afternoon have to be higher to compensate - everbody wins :rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes:

The energy retailer I'm a founding shareholder of supplies power to consumers at the market variable wholesale price, so if you consume most of your power during the day when the wholesale price is low or zero, it's going to save you $$$$

The link below is a "live" chart from the NEM that shows where grid generation is coming from. You'll note that coal baseload is the major part of the grid. In order for renewables to replace coal, you'd need the mother of all battery capacity, and secondly , an enormous additional amount of renewable generation in order to charge the batteries just for one night's demand , while still delivering power for normal daytime usage. And that's before we start charging all the electric cars....
