AFAIK you no longer receive a subsidy for PV installation in NSW and the "feed-in" tariff (what you receive for power you send to the network is now 7c / Kw.

When I had panels the feed-in was 20c. The panels died after 16 years and when I looked at the economics of a new system it didn't add up. A mate has just spent $40K on panels and a Tesla battery and figures he'll be in the black after 8 years, which is roughly the life of the battery.

As Mike says, installing PV's is very visible virtue signalling and it's noticeably more popular in middle-to-high socio economic areas. The reality is that low income people and renters pay higher power bills due to the extra costs imposed on distribution networks and generators by solar, so they're effectively subsidising higher income people.

At 7 cents it’s not worth the cost of the setup...Would it be more feasible to go off grid and power your home with a solar generator housed in a shipping container if you have the space?..

Assume you mean a diesel generator and the answer is probably not feasible compared to grid power. You need industrial scale power needs to justify the up front cost. FYI Mobile phone towers in remote areas and throughout the developing world where there is no reliable grid run off diesel gensets.

I put food top solar on about 9 years ago at a cost of $12k. Our bills back the. Prior to solar were about $500 per quarter. We still get paid about $200-300 per quarter. Haven’t had a power Bill in 9 years.
I’ll buy more panels and a battery if it all turns to **** :D

Parked the car about an hour ago. Went back out to grab something half an hour later and found this.

No, it’s not bird schitt. It’s ****ing paint! Some kunt has done this and then driven off!

Luckily it hadn’t set and I’ve washed it off. I think it’s ok.

Do you think it's a tradie dropped their paint tins off the back of a ute or deliberate ?

I got a bill for $1400 for a scratch on the 355 side panel, very small area had to be painted , maybe 300x300

I think the former. There was an SUV parked just in front of it earlier which had disappeared when I found the paint.

Gees, that’s expensive. I’ve got to do the drivers door on the Golf at some point - quote is around 1k but that’s for the whole door.

It was probably an accident. I just don't understand why you wouldn't knock on the door and say sorry mate, grab a hose!

Instead he just drove off. Wanker.

That makes a lot of sense. Our new next door neighbours are a gay couple (gaybours?).

Perhaps Gayry was visiting and wanted to send me a message.

God, I hope it was paint!!!!
