Yes it was John Ian... Sam Tingle also drove the LDS in Team Gunston colours. The remains of that car is at Dads shop...I have a lot of the old race programs from my grandfather packed in the container that I need to go through....Found this pic in a program.. Image Unavailable, Please Login
No Ian... That was the LDS based of the BT11 with a 1 1/2 L repco engine.. It’s the LDS based of the Cooper T53 that he raced before that one.. Image Unavailable, Please Login
The green shell looks much later than the white one - is that allowed for racing, or is it just a fun project?
Getting back to the Lotus, I tried to balance the carbs yesterday, as it's not idling smoothly and is a bit rough on cruise, and couldn't get the front carb balanced - maybe a twisted butterfly spindle, maybe something worse, so I dropped it off to the local guru to have it checked - hopefully a compression/leak down test will be OK.
(a) It's his job to see well, I've only got to do as I'm told (b) They might not let him in to Tasmania
That is such a shame, the last circuit in the suburbs of a major city and so much history. Sadly inevitable, the value of the land would be the overwhelming consideration for the owners. NSW Govt have recently tipped $10m into SMSP so we should be OK in Sydney for year or three, although it will end up as houses too.
