I sent my 2020 F8 Tributo in for service and I got a call from the service manager that there was a recall on the Lexan back window/cover. He said that the horse was not what Ferrari wanted so they are changing the whole Lexan cover. This service department is not the dealership that I purchased my car from....so I talked with my salesman from the dealership that I purchased the car from and he told me that it was called a “campaign”not really a recall..but the reason for the campaign was the horse emblem not being what Ferrari wanted....

    Has anyone experienced this?

My biggest issue is the “Prediictive Maintenance Program”.....my F8 only has 700 miles on it so Ferrari will not approve an oil change....and the nearest Ferrari dealer is 400 miles away....so I have to pay a lot for transport back and forth.....so if I do not pay $700 for the oil change and get the car back and the “change oil light” comes on then I have to again pay for transportation back.....
I really cannot believe that Ferrari will not approve an oil change on a $300,000 plus car....really bad business for customers who have paid that much for a car....really turns me off to the brand....

What is really funny is that I just purchased a 2021 C8 Corvette HTC...and they gave me two free oil changes...I know that the C8 is not a Ferrari but it is a very nice car for the money and the performance is incredible....it has almost every option and if I had ordered my F8 with that many options the F8 would have been probably 50-75k more....

This appears to be the new maintenance scam from Ferrari. Recently revised, I believe 2019. There was a recent thread addressing the same thing. No oil change unless ECU says so. Kinda BS and goes against the once a year oil changes regardless of mileage. My question with regards to this was whether there is any mechanical/chemical scientific evidence to support their new policy. So far, it seems driven by economics. The "7 year included free-maintenance" may turn out free to the dealership and Ferrari as well.

Have not heard about the Lexan "recall" What horse are you referring to?

There aren't any federal recalls on the F8.

The horse is not what Ferrari wanted? There's no horse on the rear window. What exactly are they referring to?

As far as oil, why are you changing it at 700? Even on my motorcycle, which has a wet clutch, I only do it once ever 1250 miles. 700 seems excessive.

Is the car in for a service which Ferrari contacted you about as part of Ferrari's "required" maintenance or just you sending your car in for some sort of check up?

I think you should ask Ferrari customer service about it. It seems odd and I have not heard anything about it. Just tell your service department to sit tight, and that your car will go in for the "fix" once service is due. This is not, and will not be a problem as it is not a federal safety recall.

As for the thing about a horse? What horse? There is no horse there and so far Ferrari has not changed the look of the Cavalino since 1948.

7 years free maintenance, but no maintenance required unless the ECU calls for it. Pay for the oil change if it makes you feel better. However I agree, certainly no need at 700 miles.

The only problem with not paying for the oil change is the transportation cost to take the car back when and if the oil change light comes on in say three months or so......

And yes this is the first year “free” maintenance...which is on schedule...not early...I did not take the car in for a check up.....

As far as the Lexan panel....”In regards to Lexan Glass, it is a campaign, not a recall and it is based on the Ferrari emblem not looking acceptable.”....
So when I get it back maybe I will be able to see the difference....

What I do not get is what Ferrari emblem is there on the Lexan cover? Or is it that it distorts the engine bay emblems. I still do not get what you/they are referring to.

I don’t see how that can be it, the Ferrari script emblem is not part of the lexan window.

There is a small Ferrari horse emblem near the top of the lexan window, thats all I see. On my car I have the carbon fiber boot trim where the emblem is mounted. Definitely not part of the lexan window, and even without that option..it’s not part of the lexan window either.

Well I'm sure you were well informed before you purchased the F8 ?

Unfortunately since feb 2019 its change oil if required.

Im 100% sure you wont get a change oil light because i know of a Pista with heaps of Track time with 10000 kms ( 6200 miles ) and it didnt have an oil change.

IMO Turbo engine change the oil full stop.

Hey Kia has a 10 year warrantee and 10 year free service for a car that costs less than a triple layer paint cost at Ferrari.

Ferrari test every car on their test track hence why we all have 30 -50 kms on the clock when its delivered. But its not as if they change the oil. I would have thought the first oil change would be the most important just incase of filings etc.

But this is the issue, August 2018 488 GTB , they will change the oil every year until 7 years old 2025.

Low mileage one could and would question changing the oil but like i said ask yourself if you tracked your car heavily , had 6200 miles on the clock, wouldn't you expect and oil change ? Well the Ferrari computer didnt think so.

So I'm of the opinion lets see what happens after the warrantee is finished whether Ferrari dealership will be saying ah no need to change the oil . I bet not.

Frankly it BS . Even at $1000 per change 10,000 cars its 10 million / year . Lets say they save 5 years changing only then its 50 million lost too much for them ?

Frankly IMO the Warrantee should be 7 years and the service 3 years.

Yep, total crap. I’ll probably have about 5000 miles and several track days by my 1 year anniversary. I’ll probably pay them to do the oil change or just do it myself.

I remember the thread. Though I am not affected, I was expressing strong opinions based on business principle, because a guy purchased the 488 with the old verbiage of 7 years free maintenance and Ferrari changed the deal afterwards and it affected his car. Do a search, I am sure you can find it under my posts. Still not cool, Ferrari!!

Im not sure they have even changed their service books to reflect oil and filter change , if required ?

This BY FAR has to be the biggest back track from Ferrari ever.

Im still of the opinion that the dealer will recommend oil change once the warrantee is finished. And to many that will be after 3 years if the extended is not taken.

IMO at the price of these cars no one would really give a rats of $700 but its the PRINCIPLE that Ferrari has withdrawn the yearly changing of the oil and filter
