    Gentlemen. A bit off topic, but I just wanted to mention how excited I am looking forward to seeing the upcoming specs from fellow forum members, and the conversations to be had regarding our enthusiasm for the 812 VS. I joined Fchat after the TDF was launched, and cars were delivered and as a newer member here, it was a real treat to go back to page 1 of the TDF thread and read stories from owners such as @Traveller's Blu Simond car, and other fellow members' stories about their spec ideas and journey. I must say it is amazing that we have the accessibility to engage in a dialogue with Fchatters world-wide (thank you Internet!). I look forward to seeing you all on the upcoming official 812VS thread!

    It’s going to be called 812 GTO.

    If you were thinking Imola, you’re wrong.

    If you were thinking it was going to be called Mille Miglia you’re wrong.

    If you were thinking it was going to be called Competitzione you’re wrong.

    If you were thinking GTO has been used too recently or too often, you’re wrong.

    The car is going to be called 812 GTO.

    There is no reference to any limit on Ferrari's website, in a legally binding manner. That is my point, they cannot be held to that number since it was never made official in any regard. The F12TDF is the last car to have a legally binding production number put on it..but, that was right at the cusp of Ferrari going public...(RACE) so, technically they were not yet public...since they went public I cannot find any official publication that indicates any hard limit on production of any car that was introduced after going public. If there are any, please share. Thank you.

    And since making 501 but saying it was limited to 499 would be "securities fraud" for a public company, they aren't going to do that anymore. Or at least if they do, they will have to be very careful to make sure any public statement is 110% accurate.

    There are some wonderful articles out there by Matt Levine on how EVERYTHING can end up as securities fraud nowadays due to overly clever attorneys.

    That's my problem with Ferrari using the GTO name, at least the 599 had a track variant which I know it still didn't make it a homologation special but it still was something.
    But only time will tell just a few days for its release!

    This is off-topic as we are currently on 812VS, however Enrico Galliera who is a spokesman and officer of Ferrari gave interviews on television on the day of the unveiling, including a 6 minute one that is still on Bloomberg’s website where he is asked 2 questions at the start (1) is the car sold out? To which he replies “Yes it is sold out” and (2) how many will be made to which he replies “it is limited to 499 and the choice of SP1 or SP2 is up to the client”. If you believe this does not create legal exposure for Ferrari you need to re-check U.S. securities laws.
    Also all written representations to ordering customers that I have seen are explicit on the topic.
