This is very funny, because the rear end and exhaust system of your California, is the worst thing Ferrari has ever done.

I think it looks great. I can’t wait to see it in person!

There is more than enough power and I am sure they have cut the weight using CF panels and other techniques.

The extra gear will give them the opportunity for some more aggressive gearing also.

One thing I noticed from driving the TDF and 812 back to back- yes the 812 makes more power, but the TDF engine does it in a way that is almost as smooth but more mechanical feeling. So I hope this car is not just about the power number but also the feeling and involvement.

My name suggestion is Ferrari Competizione - everything they know about competition distilled into one final V12. Never mind with the 812- we all know it has 800+hp and the V12. Not about one particular race or track, the car is an embodiment of everything they know.

I'm absolutely on your sight! What a beauty! Look, this car differs so much from the standard 812 SF. Am I'm wrong when I say that a VS has to be (much) different from the "normal" version?! When you buy a versione speciale, you want it SPECIAL. Existing, different, breath taking. Common guys, this is a bullseye!

But I can understand that some Ferrari Fans like the classic way. But this car is a present from Ferrari. It deserves much much much more than disrespectful names like "aftermarket"..

Thanks for the heads up! I can clearly see 812 Competizione just by zooming! Anyone with enough skills to install and run PS should be able to clear it up even more...

Should be... I still see no reason for this blind lid, so at least I hope a minimal boot is kept.

I share your doubt: the only thing i can suppose it that they have to remove some air flow from the rear spoiler, as it's very high and otheriwise it would have a lot of drag. So in my opinion the six trunk lid air deflectors are there only to reduce the rear spoiler downforce and drag: a very nice 250 GTO style rear "duck" but with much less drag.

no vents in the rear lid, only deflectors

    PS
There isn't anything inside it: there will be only a Schedoni set

As usual, I agree with you. Manzoni is doing an incredible job, and it’s as if people expect the old PF jobs to be rehashed in some manner. And I also enjoy the yellow tire markings. It ties this particular spec in nicely, and looks a little bland without.

Fingers crossed with the new 8 gear SF90 gearbox we get an additional small bump in HP with a small electric motor attached to it ;-)

Possibly that explains the longer rear to the 812 Superfast...

I think it's shorter than Superfast.

Genuine question here for you, don't you think some aero solutions might be more visual than actually functional? Just as this one, maybe. Awaiting an in-depth explanation from Ferrari, though.

My view the styling combines simply too many classic ques in one design and none of these to my eyes simply fit together, the louvers at the back, clearly inspired by the 250 TDF, the vents on the rear, 288 GTO, the lip on the back, again 288 GTO/250 GTO, the less said about the tire lettering the better. The exhausts, sure very aggressive but they draw too much attention from what is in some aspects a nice clean design.

The front of the car for me is easily the best angle and I have no doubt it would look amazing to see on the road.

The use of vortex generators is not to increase the speed of the flow--in fact they take energy out of the flow--but they are to energize the boundary layer flow so that the flow remains attached to the body or is directed as needed.

In the case of this car, the flow along the hatch is diffusing against an adverse pressure gradient (also due to the spoiler) so would tend to separate and so reduce the effectiveness of the rear spoiler and increase drag.

What is not obvious is the direction and path of the vortices.

As I wrote above, the V.G.'s (not deflectors) are there to increase the spoiler effect as noted by Ferrari saying they "increase aerodynamic efficiency" and reduce drag by helping the flow remain attached to the rear hatch. If they wanted less downforce and drag from the rear spoiler they would have made it shorter.

Shorter would have been less evocative: this way it's nicer and with less drag. Or it can be a kind of "limit layer air remover" like you see with the fighter jets air intakes: this way it could increase the rear spoiler efficiency. I'm not an aero specialist so I could write some bull s hits, even much more than I usually do... ;)

    ciao
