I would like to hear what direction others are going but for the Tdf I wanted an underlying elegance to the car. Old world leather inside and bare aluminum craftsmanship outside all paying tribute to a car that seems a mix between both brute and refined classiness.

This car is purely aggressive. It looks angry and as others have pointed out - in your face. I kind of want to go "Mad Max" with the car. Last of the V12 Interceptors (Mad Max the line was "V8 Interceptor"). Want to stay in the silver theme of things though.

Yes you are right and I stand corrected. I wasn't sure as I couldn't see the differentiating splitter. And it definitely even further bridges a connection to Corse Clienti with FXXK-Evo representing XX, the 488C-evo representing Ferrari Challenge and the Modificata representing enjoyment of the track. This makes a lot of sense. Thank you @maha for pointing it out.

I read earlier on this thread from a VERY reliable source that the car will be named “GTO”. Maybe he meant “GOO”. Not sure. I’ll have to go back and review the entire thread.

Seems like Ferrari found a solution to that annoying issue of the rear windshield flying off.

Same here. A bolder spec seems to suit more this wild car. I’m probably going a bit of the reserve as well with this one.....
Have to say that this launch spec is pretty darn on point!

The model name is 812 competizione for the coupè and 812 competizione A for the removable roof.

They are not stupid and the GTO suffix will be preserved for a future hypercar: no 812 GTO will ever exhist.

    ciao

    PS
This is what several rumors here around the factory are telling. Different sources, same result: those are the names. This is not Ferrari official, of course.

812 competizione design is not much a departure from the base car compared with f12tdf & the base car still looks wild

    Congrats you both!

I want to write some words about the styling.

I didn't like at all the 488 GTB and 812 SF shape: bad Italian style in my opinion, too much "international" style. But then they did the 488 Pista: not too many mods, but a very big improvement and now I like it very much. With the 812 Competizione even better: this car is a huge improvement over the SF, another one even if the mods are less than it looks. I think competizione is VERY nice and it's not so much "inspired" to a vintage car like the F12tdf is. So, in my opinion: 812 Competizione (coupè) is a very aggressive and very good looking Ferrari, like F12 tdf is. But it has a much more modern shape than the F12 tdf, so it's something (as style) much newer than the tdf, and this not only because it came years later: well done, Ferrari. Same excellent looking shape, but more modern and original: it means better, to me. And it will look great in red: only a great looking Ferrari looks great in red.

    Ciao

I had to write it's not official, but... ;)

Agreed. In my opinion, they did an excellent job on the Pista and this 812VS as well. Both great evolutions of the original designs.

I'd like to think that when Ferrari focusses more on 'race inspired' cars; they tend to do a 'better' job.

If they don’t call this car “ GTO “ it is plausible imho that prices of the 599 GTO and 288 GTO will growth even more

Thank you for the above comparisson.
Makes it easier to see the design langauage and thus differences between each car.
And if I may say so how overcomplicated the TDF's front diffuser looks!

This is a personal opinion, but I think the P3 rear spoiler does not perform very well on a front mid-engine, as the rear is inherently too short to give perfect balance.
The rear of the TDF is clearly a tribute to the 250 GTO, and I think the years that go by will make it even more desirable.
What I deplore about the current style in general is that it has lost its Italian references made of a mixture of curves and extravagance, and consequently of timelessness, in favor of lines that are too aggressive and brittle in the Lambo style.
This is the major difference, for me, between the direction Manzoni wants to give, compared to the direction Pininfarina was giving.
I'm talking about directives, because as you may know the 812 VS, just like the SF 90 is in a way Pininfarina.
The true masterpiece of style of recent years will however remain the work of Manzoni for the P 80 / C.
It just goes to show that we can still make it modern and timeless, but we still have to want it (or rather I have to say that the marketing is okay)!
