    "Very good" ?

So half of a mathmatical point difference stops greatness in your book ?

    OK, got it.

Yes, I only judge Verstappen by what he does on track.

I have no idea of what he does off track, and that is of no interest to me.

Well said... that being said... I don’t recall Prost trying to save Eric Comas’ life in Spa... Senna waz just different

The analysis of the drivers' rankings based on statistics only, even if conceivable, remains extremely limited in its veracity.
As if Lewis’s fate was written in advance in 2013 which is a nonsense unless you believe in predestination or mektoub.
His behaviour in the media has nothing to do with this simple observation.
He is an excellent driver but he simply benefited from an alignment of the planets never seen in the history of this sport.

But a driver's character is also present at the track.

I like that picture. Ham was hangin with any and everybody during that time, and still made time to kick butt.

I personally think its what you do after the planets align, its what you do with the opportunity. Many have had the opportunity to drive for top teams. Vettel has been with a top team the majority of his career, the planets have aligned for Rosberg and Bottas, for Alonso multiple times. Jacques Villeneuve sarted with a top team as a rookie. Fangio never drove a midfield car. Its what you do with the opportunity that counts.

No one denies that Lewis maximized the opportunities that the Mercedes adventure gave him.
Simply that the whole of the parameters were favourable to him in a totally new measure both in its intensity and in its length.
I think it would be unfair to deny the remarkable work done by Mercedes and this regardless of the human and financial resources invested in this project.
What you’re trying to make us believe is that the context in which Lewis has evolved since 2014 is comparable to many other periods in the history of this sport and this is totally inaccurate I’m sorry to repeat it to you.

I'm not trying to make anybody believe anything. Lewis was a WDC and had many wins before 2014. Also he is not he only driver of Mercedes. He was a special racer since a kid, he is already proven, he does'nt need my help. I'm just reminding everybody that top teams and drivers are nothing new to F1.

Didn’t know when I created this thread that we would be at 390 posts and counting discussing the DRIVING respect Lewis should have and in my opinion had earned [emoji23]

    Completely agree with your answer.
It just has nothing to do with my thinking but it does not matter as my fellow friend from Miami remarked..;)

    I like it too!
It always reminds me of the adage ‘there’s no ‘I’ in team’, similar to there being no ‘I’ in Hami.... , I mean...there’s no ‘I’ in Lewi....

Well, anyway, there’s no harm in forgetting about the usual grease monkeys who do something with the car and instead sharing the champagne with a well-versed celeb F1 fan who attends almost every event.:)

And the skill to take advantage of it and bring wins/results - what the team pay him to do. It is not LH fault for being in that situation. Lauda wanted him. That should tell anyone the skill that was noticed.

What is certain, in the case of Hamilton, is that he certainly didn't waste the chance he was given.

    That alone deserves serious respect.

The continuous counter argument will be the team made it easy for him. Good.

They build the car, and with limited testing they are responsible to make it better given the limited feedback drivers can provide vs the MS era. The team capability arranged by Mercedes is superb.

I am sitting around here wondering if, instead of going to Mercedes, Lewis gone to Ferrari and won just as many times and WDCs as he did at Mercedes, would this thread would be showering Lewis with praise ?? and anointing him as GOAT ???
