The worst part is, that blog by Ferrari San Francisco is the first thing that pops up when one types in search words, “Ferrari 355 Tming Belt Schedule.”

What we need to do is have John60k start a new thread titled, “The F355 Belt Schedule should be 10 years and heres why” and sticky it. Should give 355s a nice 25% bump in valuation :).

yep, I still hold solid Car & Driver probably just sourced info from dealers, but the dealers are being greedy and there is zero factory or scientific backing to support 3 year belts. ask any independent and 355 owner on FerrariChat, complete bull ****.

I have had the exact same thought for a while now. The way to do this is to put together a small group (around five) of the top independent Ferrari mechanics in the US, guys with enormous experience working on 355's and impeccable credibility. They should write a short tech article stating that with today's belts and tensioner bearings the original factory guidance can be ignored and the new schedule for majors should be X years and Y thousand miles.

Case closed, debate over, 355 values go up. The three year major claim is nonsense and probably the single biggest factor holding down 355 values. It is fake news.

Market report: client came in today with a 1998 21k mile Rosso Corsa and tan spider. F1. Due for a service (no records in 8 years). Paid just over $60k 2 weeks ago. Pretty decent car. Had all the goodies (books, tools, covers) but lifting - actually falling off airbag cover. Some other interior issues. Wheels were nice. Looked like new tires. Not sure on engine. Asked us about a paint issue.

Was told clutch at 35% so it is due soon too. Getting prices of $8k dealer on service and $10-12k from Norwood (ouch).

    Whatcha’ think?

that will be where it starts for the major. ++clutch. risk of some other mechanical surprises. sounds like the interior can use some TLC, which can easily hit 5-digits if done right and comprehensive. although mine just a 13k car, the prior owner spent $25k to get interior to Platinum level.

sounds like a good value for the car. potentially some risk of this being a $75k car you're in $85k to get it there. that's the risk with all of these when few records and lacking maintenance. usually the owner doing the maintenance pays the price, but at least has the peace of mind knowing exactly what and when done.

Lol. Nope. Was waiting for measurements. Now waiting for more measurements :p. Need to make sure it’s not large, since the size isn’t clearly indicated although some of the numbers printed on the bottom tag might give some clues.

I would buy them either way...sell them after you find a narrow set. Like real estate...at least you're in the market. Lol

At the price he wants, I need to make sure they’re what I need because if I sell, chances are I’ll take a loss.

“Hey, nice seats! Those seats are worth $46k!! I’ll give you $6k for it.” - 355 owners :p

Being a factory authorized dealership, we have to follow the factories guidelines. < shrug > do we have clients that push the timeline, yes absolutely.
    What I see:
Seasoned owners 5 to 7 years ( mileage almost never gets there )
Sellers push the 5 to 7 year as well, you don't need it yet...
Buyers push 3 years or less, has to be done or no deal

I think, a lot like the new power warranty conversation on modern Ferrari, its all up to the owners risk tolerance, I feel that there are more than one correct answer.

As for standard pricing, I attached the price list we offer our clients, to be performed on their timeline. Deferred maintenance differs per Ferrari.

@SAFE4NOW For the 355, when did Ferrari announce the change from a 3 to 5 year belt interval?
