You will also remember he was dicing right at sharp end when that happened. In the previous GP - the French - he had qualified 2nd and was leading (in only his 3rd start) before tangling with Emmo. One might accuse him of being over exuberant and reckless in those initial races (and plenty did) but his speed and talent was immediate and pretty hard to ignore...

Mazepin may yet prove some people wrong, but you'd be hard pressed to find any positives about his debut race.

He got the car started. He found the clutch and first gear. And the radio button... Race 2 will be interesting.

Any talk of Daddy Mazepin buying Haas in another year or so?

Another incident today in 1st practice. Face it Mazepin is a turd in the punchbowl..... Does NOT belong in F1, only daddy's money keeps him from being punted!

Was good to see all of Schumi Jr.’s first run in Q1. He was very smooth, very neat and beat his teammate by 1 second on that first run.

Mazepin gets called out by Brazilian commentators after his curt response to one of their reporters...

Just when you think F1 has found the least deserving untalented jack ass, they find yet another.

Mick Schumacher is calmy learning his trade, and avoid attracting attention. I like that.

What is unfair is that he has perhaps the worst car on the grid to do that.

His father qualified 7th in his first F1 race, where a week before Michael did not know he would even be IN an F1 car, any F1 car!

Not fair on Mick to compare him to his father's shadow, no miracles are to be expected of a HAAS this season or the next ;)

Mick did good today. Nearly lapped Mazespin. He may in a Haas, but his progress will be noticed. Beating Maespin is what he needs to do this season. Destroying him preferably.

Mazepin is proving to be the worst driver in F1 since Joylon Palmer.

Mazepin just doesn't belong in F1, if he doesn't shape up he should face sanctions/a ban.

The future of Hass may be linked to Mazepin Jr in F1.

If he doesn't make it this year, I expect his father will stop sponsoring the team.

He was awful today I genuinely feel that I could have performed similarly to him with a few months practice. 60 seconds behind 18th place.

    8. Mazepin seemed massively out of his depth
Nikita Mazepin’s off-track behaviour did little to enamour him to the F1 paddock prior to his arrival for 2021, but the Russian vowed he would do his talking on-track and prove himself.

Three races in, we’re still waiting to see that. He qualified almost six-tenths of a second off fellow rookie team-mate Mick Schumacher’s time in qualifying, and finished a minute down in the race. He was called a “dumbass” in qualifying by Latifi - the Canadian a long way down the list of the drivers you commonly hear venting fury on team radio - and incurred the wrath of Perez in the race after almost wiping him out, despite blue flags, with a five-second time penalty following.

Mazepin admitted after his spins in Bahrain that he needed to rein things in and understand he wasn’t driving a Mercedes, a car he’d tested privately to help prepare for F1. But the gap to the rest of the field so far has done little to show that he is yet ready to be part of the furniture in F1.

Barcelona may be better for Mazepin, given he’s raced on the track in both F2 and GP3. The learning curve is certainly steep in F1, yet after unforced errors in the first two races, Schumacher appears to have turned a corner and seemed to be racing in another category last weekend.

Lancelot was a lot worse than Palmer when he arrived...today he's about as good...
