I was under the impression that once the build spec is locked in and the order is fully accepted with no changes, at that time the deposit becomes non-refundable. Perhaps that is what RXBG is referring to. The issue is timing between placing the initial refundable F8 deposit and then switching to LB before locking in to the F8 and having a nonrefundable deposit.

I missed the fact that the car was already in production. However, the dealerships usually release the deposit if they find a other client willing to take the car at any point.

Does anyone have a sense for what a reasonable markup over MSRP is on used F8s right now? I'm in the market and seeing anywhere from $15k over up to $40k over. And before anyone says $0 that frankly seems like nonsense- I've tried a bit of negotiation with several dealers now and not one is willing to budge in the slightest, and both of my local dealers have told me the delivery estimate if ordered today is still 12-18 months out.

I am afraid and sad to tell you that your option are very limited. You are at the mercy of whomever you choose. The thing with Ferrari is that you either get MSRP by ordering new and waiting or buying lightly used/preowned at what they ask. I will echo what many say. If you are not willing to wait. Order an F8, like you want it and in the mean time, get a preowned 488, use it and when your F8 comes in, turn the 488 in. Other option, if you do not want to wait, is pay what the dealer is asking for and call it a day.

Thanks for the thoughts, to be clear I understand how the free market works and have no issue paying over MSRP for the privilege of not having to wait for the car, I just want confirmation that the current prices are indeed realistic- I continually come across people on forums like these commenting that all of the F8 markups are ******** and there's no way any of these cars are actually selling over MSRP, but in fact that seems not to be the case and they are indeed fetching these asking prices.

I didn't mean to sound as if you did not know. The thing is that the numbers are all over the place. You won't be able to negotiate them down. My suggestion would be to look for the minimum you would like to have and then compare between the ones that meet your standards.

Yeah, that is the newest and best PPF from Suntek. I was installing the Suntek Ultra until this one came out. A little more expensive than Ultra but worth it. It apparently has some hydrophobic properties similar to Ceramic coating. I discussed it with my car "salon" guy and he told me that he would still recommend ceramic coating so, will stick to original plan PPF + CQuartz Reserve, except with new Suntek PPF.
