Does anyone have these marks (looks like pin stripe) on your hard top cover (Tonneau Cover) seen when the top is down? There is a piece of 3M type film that is on the cover to protect it from the roof retraction mechanism and the surface marks are on this 3M piece of film. Has anyone had any luck removing these marks or is replacing the film the only solution? Image Unavailable, Please Login

The pin stripe marks are very common. I just let them be and consider it part of the styling cues.

You could try a little plastic polish on a soft microfiber towel, can't hurt.

Also, try some WD40. It is an excellent cleaner. Try it on a corner foist to make sure it doesn’t hurt anything but it shouldn’t...

I have them on my California, too, but the car is black so they don't show too much. I think it's rubber residue.

Chemical Guys Speed Wipe detailer might get them off. I can't remember; haven't had to hand wash the car yet this season. It's a great quick detailer, and smells wonderful.

I tried various cleaning methods and none of them worked well. So I just had the factory film strip removed and I had it replaced with new film covering the whole back deck. In hindsight, the new film cost about what I spent on cleaning products.

Thanks for all the ideas. I have tried some cleaners and rubbing compounds but I think new film is the only way to remove the stripe.

I had that piece replaced on my ‘13 Cali when I had protective film installed on the front end after I bought it a couple of years ago.
