Completely agree, high value doesn't always equal good wine. That's the beauty of it, the surprise you get when tasting good wine regardless of the price point.

I've had the 2016 and was not amazed by it. Perhaps I drank it before maturity or maybe it's just not my thing.
I had DAOU and The Prisoner on Mother's day. I haven't had the DAOU Soul of a Lion. I like The Pessimist by DAOU, and $22 for a 92 point red isn't bad. https://www.totalwine.com/wine/red-wine/red-blend/daou-pessimist-red-blend/p/196861750
Never feel obligated to like what others say is great. It’s a triple 100 pt rated wine. I’m holding it until 2030 probably.

If you have seen the movie Bottle Shock, Heidi and Bo are the main characters in the movie, which is basically about the 1976 Paris Wine Tasting. Haven’t tried it yet. That Bond! One of my top 3 Napa wines. Love it. Hundred Acre, Bond, and Dominus for me. Sent from my iPhone using FerrariChat
that would be a young vintage to open if you talk to him ! Funny how they differ in opinions and philosophy..
