hi, please help me get rid of the CEL !! Left bank P2198 - O2 sensor signal biased / stuck lean bank 2 and P1536 - Camshaft control outlet circuit (cylinder bank 2) Right bank P2196 - O2 sensor signal biased / stuck rich bank 1 last owner changed the OEM exhaust manifold to and aftermarket option. i did see notes that a "Spacer" was made to better fit the O2 sensor. would this change cause the CEL ? any help would be great !
the manifold will be affecting how gases touches the pre-cat o2 sensor. so start from there. the p1536 maybe have something to do with your cam control solenoid without knowledge of the car's mods, its difficult to say.
Look in the front boot space for the battery isolation switch, using a tork T40 wrench turn the switch off for 5 mins then turn on again. That will clear the CEL. See if it re appears first. Start engine but keep off the throttle and allow to warm up for a few minutes, see if cel returns
ive used my friends professional OBD scanner to clear it a few times, it comes back on the next day pulling the same codes.
There was a recent message thread on oil contamination of one of the variable cam actuator connectors. Check the connector on the left bank. I also hear that high pressure oil in the actuator can flood the electronics in the actuator itself.
Have a look on e bay in europe for a cd workshop manual on the 430. Mine came from Italy and is full of usefull info for about €15 delivered. Each cam shaft has an electro mechanical device on the end to vary the cam timing through the rev range, these can fail when oil gets into the wiring.
