    Hi All-

Anyone suffering from sagging rear grill on their TR or 512TR should check to see if their rear grill union is broken (the plastic part that holds the two grill halves together and bolts them to the car, also holds the Cavalino emblem). Mine was.

I modeled and 3D printed some parts that allow me to repair the damage done in the past as this part is completely NLA from Ferrari and my quick search of used parts dealers suggested its going to be hard to find.

    Take a look:

Wow, looks cool. How does the plastic hold up to the heat?

Time will tell. If it doesn't work out from ABS, I will SLA print it using a resin that can handle 150deg C

Nice job. I have a carbon fiber printer if you need. I could print a set for you too. Comes out very nicely and ready for paint if you didn't like the grey finish. Excellent to see others engineer parts for these cars.

If you think this stuff doesn't attract new members, think again! One of the ONLY things that help bring me comfort when I started looking for a TR was THIS group.

I’m happy to see another engineer on the board! As the parts become obsolete, it will become our job to create the new ones. This kind of thing is one of my favorite hobbies.

The parts worked and fit perfectly (after second revision). The ABS seems fine after 20mi or so. I don’t expect any problems because its pretty insulated from the muffler by a few inches of air. I opted not to fill, sand and paint it but that would be a nice touch for obvious reasons despite it not being visible.

The part looks great. Belissimo. I am flying to FL tomorrow evening for my PPI on a TR. With any luck at all, I'll have a Euro spec car to tinker with later this month...!

It needs to be a material with a high heat resistance. Many of those were destroyed by cat overheats. Even without being overheated they get distorted brittle etc over time from the exhaust heat. I would run off a number of them and spread the word they are available. Depending on the price I'd consider throwing a couple on the shelf. That area gets so hot the nylon in the nylock nuts holding in the subframe routinely melts out of the nut. I regularly service cars where they are damaged but still supporting the bars and since they are not available by themselves for a rational price I just blow it off.

"It needs to be a material with a high heat resistance."

Like aluminum or steel? Or is it requirement that it be 3D printed?

Sorry for the bad picture, this is what I have right now, we adjusted the design as we noticed it was 2mm too tall and next week we should have it ready in the right material
