Yeah, they're expensive and $50K is on the money, despite the fact you can purchase almost any Ferrari for that sum. Although the amount of work is about the same as a 2V V8 Ferrari engine, usually you end up replacing items such as the crankshaft. Years of neglect is usually the reason they need work, not fair wear wear and tear. Genuine parts such as pistons, gasket sets and bearings are also up there in price.
or the motor is stuff due to water damage and a replacement needs to be found and then rebuilt . And if you want the correct pistons and liners 10k ..
