My father had one of those converted Ford Australia cars new , Wimbledon white with light blue trim , 289 / auto.

It lasted about a month in the garage ,shocking thing . A poor conversion from left to RHD.

Family friend was high up in Ford and talked my father into it , the only good thing out of it .....my father got promised one of the 1st XR GT's which he had for a few months and sold onto his best mate whom owned Franklin Caravans in Ballarat .

 

Yes Ian but the 202 oil and water galley ways weren't big enough when the going got hot .... this is what the engine guy we took the block to said which made sense when you saw the heat damage done to the engine

Interesting, first I've heard of that. Think of the many millions of miles done by 202 red motors in various models, it was the mainstay of Holdens for over a decade.

Torana winning Bathurst in '72 then 6 out of the top 10 places in '73, then the Australian Rally Championship every year from 1971 to 1974. Also the 1979 Round Australia Rally was won by Peter Brock in a Commodore with a 202 in it.

 

I was thinking along the same lines ,add in speed boat racing and Group NC historic and you have a very successful engine ..

 

Aah yes, however HDT weren't fortunate enough to have their engines "Tuna by Moretti." [emoji16]

 

That is very fairly priced. I hope it stays here but I do agree with Greg that buyers for vintage cars are fading away with age.

Good read , Tate and Brock were a great partnership in the HDT days pre 1975..

 

It IS Wes that posted it only 5 years late...pity it's not 3 seconds....

 

Would have to be, Giovanni Millard and I were in Melbourne shopping when we heard in '06

Sadly the next day in Tassie we got some more bad news , .... and then Giovannu cheated me out of the 308 trophy .... again !!!
